However, the previous YTV ident was an integral part of the original First Tuesday titles - have a look here and scroll to about 45" in:

Was that version of the YTV jingle a specific one for made for First Tuesday (in the same way as 3-2-1 had its own version), or was it in general use?

The only other time I remember hearing it was as part of a package about the chevron ident and jingle from a YTV 40th Anniversary programme. I don't remember ever hearing it on YTV's other network programmes in the 80s, only this version.

By the way... what a great thread! And thanks to those with inside information from the time - it's really interesting to read. Very Happy

The music used on the Yorkshire Ident preceeding the "First Tuesday" titles is different to that normally used by the company - Certainly the version that you attach is the one familiar to me.

I have to say that this has been bugging me today - I'm really sure that "First Tuesday" was treated differently - A quick look at TV Ark shows the second set of titles, preceeded by the "Liquid Gold" version of the ident - Making 1987 their definate introduction date. Unless the recording that they used was from a master tape - In which case it could be later, as it is suggested that YTV added a pre-programme ident to much of their material made up until 1989 (although not as-transmitted)

The Insider - Could it possibly be that the original titles were re-edited to incorporate the "liquid gold" version of the ident, and that this was used on-air until early 1988 when the new (unlinked) titles were introduced?

It has been so long my mind may be playing tricks, but it stands out in my mind as definately that programme.

You actually sent me scuttling into my big pile of VHS tapes from the 80s to see what was there, and I found the second First Tuesday titles, complete with separate liquid gold ident (ie not an integral part of the opening) on a tape from late 1986-early '87.

I have to say I genuinely don't remember the 3D chevron morphing into any opening titles, I'm guessing it would have been a really cumbersome one for them to manipulate, certainly in those days, unlike the old 2D effort. But then again I didn't watch every single programme so I can't say for sure!

I agree this thread has been a joy to read, same the old ITV is no longer with us, but at least we have good memories.
