Can you really have failed to notice that all you ever seem to suceed in doing is to get everybody's backs up?

I'm just saying what I think , isn't that what forums are supposed to be about ? If it upsets you , then , possibly , you have too sensitive a disposition . On the other hand , this isn't the real world. Surprised

there are perfectly obvious (to ITV plc) and muddy (to us) reasons why other regions' names have changed or not.

Yes , it is a granada takeover. That's why HTV - a long established tv and production name has gone , and the likes of Granada are still there.
Your last 2 sentences are perfectly clear in referring to OTHER regions names being all but relics - Granada is specifically excluded from this remark. If this is not what you are trying to say , perhaps you should edit your posts more carefully.

I don't think that this falls under the "dialect " heading -colloquialism maybe , but it's fairly standard in English , being a well known " phrase or saying ".

I originally replaced the word his with the word 'their' in the above post as I was unsure of what sex you were - but then reading through all your nit-picking posts I decided that you could infact be a woman and so opted to put the non-discrimatory term 'their' instead.

I also see that you have resorted to replying to yourself in this thread now, numerous times in the last half-hour!

Maybe no-one else will play with you and you have to resort to playing with yourself...................

Am I alone in thinking that people are according far too much seriousness to Mr Cowboy's posts?

He's not what I would call a troll exactly, but I do suspect that he is probably enjoying watching people get so worked up about nothing.
