I happened to have a look at the various late news' tonight and couldn't help but notice that granada had " granada news " not " itv granada news ".
If it's good enough for the other regions ,Chas , why isn't it good enough for granada ? hmmm?
I think we know the answer - and it stinks.
All regions are equal but one is more equal than all the rest.
itv is becoming more squalid by the day ! Evil or Very Mad

Funny how that it was only 4 or 5 years ago and everyone was praising Granada over Carlton mainly due the reason that it kept the regional names. Well look at it now, it's nearly 2005 and it appears that Granada is now 10 ten times worse than Carlton for their domineering.

Um! This is ITV1! And now the ITV West News... Would have been easier to say HTV News

Do you really say 'Um' as an exclamation? I would've thought that would lead to excessive mockery.

So you're complaining that your regional news programme isn't prefixed with 'ITV'? FYI, only HTV specifically has 'ITV' in the title (which imo only goes to serve that the HTV brand is missing - coming up with completely new names for the Wales and West news services would have been better), all other regions carry on with the same names they had before.

broadband cowboy,

The only reason that the two former HTV news' (Wales and West) have "ITV" in their titles is because "ITV" sounds quite similar to "HTV". So, giving them the names "ITV Wales News" and "ITV West News" means that the current names are as similar as possible to the old name as possible, whilst still eliminating the "HTV" brand - which was ITVplc's desired intention. Whereas, if they'd been called, say, "Wales Report" or whatever, it would have been a big change.

None of the other ITV1 regional news programmes have had "ITV" added to their names! Rolling Eyes

the naming of the regions is a mess at the minute, although i'm fairly certain in the not too distant future, they will be named in accordance to their geographic location, such as ITV1 East Anglia, ITV1 Midlands, ITV1 North West etc etc it looks much nicer, and makes a lot of sense. I guess it's just a case of phasing it all in gradually. It's taking a while, but I think ITV are slowing getting the hang of corporate branding

Surely though replacing the name 'HTV' with 'ITV' only serves to remind people that 'HTV' isn't there any more. Since they want to sweep HTV under the carpet and pretend that it doesn't exist any more, it seems an odd decision to make. Going back to 'The West Tonight' and 'Wales at Six' would seem to be more logical to me.

It also seems a bit odd to me that HTV is the only station without a separate name for it's flagship 6PM bulletin. Implementing this at the same time as the corporate revamp would seem to make sense.

Erm, it (HTV, a stand-alone company), doesn't exist anymore! Rolling Eyes Regional subsiduries of a bigger comany (ITVplc) however, do exist in its place!

That statement overlooks the fact that all other bulletins (i.e. other than the 18:00 weekday edition) couldn't very well use those titles! Rolling Eyes The shorter bulletins would still have to be called, say, ITV Wales News (or whatever).

Actually, it's not! Only the WEST sub-region of Central News uses the title "Central News at Six" for it's 18:00 show, the other two sub-regions call ALL bulletins JUST "Central News"! Razz

Well HTV is still the company which own the franchise for Wales and the West.

I dont see why Granada should call their news program ITV Granada News/ITV Granada Reports, Merdian/Anglia etc dont with their news programmes.
