Granada

I still feel short-changed by Granada. After my rants about them several months ago (remember them), we still have the following:

No in-screen weather presenter, but a voiceover by whoever does Yorkshire's weather
Rubbish graphics on Granada News/Tonight
Rubbish music on Granada News/Tonight
Rubbish studio on Granada News (but not Granada Tonight, that's nice)
No regional idents as on Yorkshire and TTTV
No regional endboards on trailers for regional programmes
No website

BUT!
I noticed new end credits on tonight's Granada Tonight. They were a gradient of blue fading across the left half of the screen with the studio still on the right. Very nice! But I haven't seen Fred Talbot for a bit, surely the face of Granada.

Come on Granada, sort it out.

Granada - The forgetten franchise in the GMG group

I emailed them recently to voice my concerns about Granada being the only ITV1 region not to have a website. They just gave some lame excuse of http://www.granadamedia.com being the official website for the channel, even though it says nothing about the region, or it's programmes. In fact, it's as much Granada's site as it is Yorkshire's or TTTV's, as it says as much about them!

Oh yeah, if you want to email them, try rob&lucy@granadamedia.com , which is the Granada Tonight address and is used for competitions, so is obviously read!

Why does Granada have one logo and typeface for ITV1 and a totally different one that was originally used for Granada Breeze and Granada Plus. And even another different one for company matters?

Because they're silly. I reckon the purple GR/N/D/ will be used more often soon.

Granada Television and Granada Media are different things, so there's no reason for Granada Television to use the GR/N/D/ logotype.
I doubt whether Granada TV will ever axe their little 'arrow on a G' logo - it must be one of the longest running logos on any TV station.

The BBC and ITV should really have logos, no the logotypes that they have the moment.
NBC and CBS has excellent logos. Although NBC has changed quite dramatically over time, the current one being the best.
CNN has a logo that will probably never be changed, no doubt there would be a bit of an uproar if it was. I'd argue that (no matter how much I loathe the network) the 'CNN Wire' is probably one of the most internationally recognised logos/logotypes - behind McDonalds and Coca Cola.
Certainly the most well known TV logo around.

Granada do use the GR/N/D/ logo for GR/N/D/ Sport, I think I've seen it used after the F1 coverage.

Its also used for `Granada Wild` after the Survival programmes

In conjunction with the Anglia triangle flag! It's Anglia, not Granada that make Survival. Anyway, does it matter that Granada have 3 logos? 1 is for Granada ITV, another for Granada Sky Broadcasting, and the third (and newest) is for Granada Media! I enclose the logos. (all from official sites - G-arrow from ITV) Note that the G-arrow and G Plus logos use the same font.

Have Border changed their endcap? It included the ITV logo (which needs a 1 added to it!) And when are Anglia and Meridian getting new endcaps, and has HTV's endcap changed yet?

I agree with Big Phil. Granada presentations etc are very poor.
For goodness sake, this is the largest and longest runnning TV station in the UK and should shout out ' quality ' on screen. I know from someone who works at the Manchester studios that there is an ' air ' of doom and gloom throughout. I believe many people were told they had no jobs and then had to re-apply. Perhaps there is a ' don't give 2 hoots ' attitude.
A real shame.
There used to be a real regional feel to the company with in-vision announcers, good on screen promos etc.
Perhaps one day this may return. Hope so.

I hate the Granada Breeze logo and idents, there so tacky, and those things before the advets with the people smiling or laughing which looks to me like there neying, well I feel as if I wanna be sick.
