Shame CITV doesn't have an endcap else you'd get a Granada Birmingham caption!

I've always thought it odd that, whilst the programmes within CiTV obviously can/do have production captions, that C(hildren's) ITV (or indeed, "Watch It!") itself has never (AFAIK) had one.

The strand is produced by someone (namely ATV/Central/Carlton Central/ITV Central/whatever), so why has this never been acknowledged with an on-screen production caption?

i think its because its just a section of ITV programming rather than a programme on its own, which is why the individual programmes shown as part of CITV get captions.

The closest that they've got is the added (c) Carlton Television whatever the year, when they had credits running through the friday performance, or after special long programmes like the 20th Birthday Bash, and the Autumn Preview show last year.

I wonder why all Granada Productions for CiTV aren't CiTV productions, like the BBC has done with CBBC programmes.

You could wonder why Granada Productions for ITV aren't ITV Productions considering they are now one company!

On another note, the new endcap isn't very good when ITV leave their ECP on too long - it looked awful this afternoon on This Morning. At least the old one was ECP safe.

I personally think it would be easier to have ITV productions, as that is now the company, but they've gone for Granada.

Well, Granada is an internationally recognised programme maker, exporting many productions around the world. So, better to label programmes as Granada productions and maintain this repuation than stick an ITV Production endcap on which means very little.

Also, Granada make programmes for other broadcasters as well. Can't imagine an ITV Production for BBC appearing on screen somehow, can you ?

The new style Granada Production endcap was shown on the end of University Challenge tonight on BBC TWO.

It was shrunk down, just looked like a purple square centered 3/4 ways up a black screen. Could barely make out the Granada name.

That will be down to the rules that independent producers cannot use full-frame endcaps on the BBC (supposedly - what about Hat Trick Productions?)

If you remember, all through the reign of the GR/N/D/ endcap, University Challenge's endcap was completely black apart from the box containing the G-Arrow itself.

I don't know the BBC's endcap ruling inside-out, but I think what it does prohibit is the use of endcaps as 'corporate mailshotting' - i.e. anything that shows the parent company group's logo - which the GR/N/D/ endcap did.

On the same page as 'The Rules' there is also a link concerning delivery rules for Wales! The link doesn't seem to work anymore!

Countdown has the new style endcap now, but it just scrolls onto the screen as part of the credits.

How strange when it used to cut before.
I'd say that the new endcap is easier to create than the last one, as they had to have a different version created so that they had the Yorkshire logo on the left, yet the background stretched all the way over with the 4 on top, where as the new endcap is on the left, could be easily done.

Just come back from holiday to see these monstrosities. They are absolutely terrible. Someone better get the sack for this.
