But he's still not going to have the same freedom that he gets on C4. His humour is all smut and innuendo, and occasionally he just relies on the f-word, he's going to have to radically change his act for Saturday night primetime.

The humour of his team of writers is all smut and innuendo!!

It's a shame the Genaration Game gig has gone to someone else

Well it hasn't yet. They are doing a one off pilot with Paul O'Grady. But if they don't like him. Although I think Paul will be great for the job.
I'm going slightly off topic here but I thought Paul O'Grady was exclusive to ITV but nowadays we seem to see him on BBC programmes.

I thought that. But didn't itv create a contract about Lily Savage been itv only, that was at the same time that they aquired Blankety Blank. But with Paul giving Lily a rest at the moment, who knows when we will see that back. It's a shame itv didn't nick the generation game off the BBC too.

I think that ANYONE who does the Generation Game will be better than Jim Davidson, who succeeded in turning the Generation Game into the Jim Davidson Show.....

Even my gran could present the show better than Jim.....

Haven't ITV more or less done away with "exclusive contracts" now ? I thought Nigel Pickard had said that nobody was indespensible anymore and they had done away with many "golden handcuff" deals. Apart from Ant & Dec of course. Laughing

And Des Lynam (well for the next 6 months or so)

The problem with golden handcuff deals is that they often get signed without having a decent vehicle for that star - the BBC are particually bad at this, although ITV has had its moments. So they have a star which produces utter tat for a year and is then never seen again - examples: Jack Dee and Philip Schofield* at ITV, Johnny Vaughn and Hale & Pace at the BBC.

* although strangely now he is on non-exclusive is actually presenting a hit: This Morning

I'm not sure, but I have a feeling that the deal is done and dusted and thre will be a series in the new year.

I think it will be good too, it needs to go back to basics though - none of the extravagances of Jim Davidsons time.

Perhaps they should just watch the repeats of Larry Graysons Generation Game on Challenge TV

The diffrence is that the Gen Game is a BBC format, but Blankety Blank is owned by Freemantlemedia (as well as something like 75% of all game show formats)

Perhaps Lily Savage is contracted to ITV, but Paul O Grady isn't?

Though thinking about it, how long has it been since Blankety Blank came to itv, as the contract may have ended.

I think they should try and coax Paul back to do blankety blank. It's a shame they haven't done a christmas special. Though how do you do a christmas special. It usually means using celebrities, but they do anyway.

It was nice to see Paul with Mel when Des was away last week. He was very good, witty, and is good at digging himself out of a hole. He isn't good at reading autocue though.
