So they are not getting rid of the UTV brand at all. What is all the fuss about? I thought there already was a UTV plc.

Maybe, but it does say they want to get away from the 'TV' bit because they do more radio
I think it means 'UTV' won't stand for anything anymore (like NTL).
Doesn't NTL mean National Telecommunications Limited?

Close but no it stands for National Transcommunications Limited, though NTL no longer owns the Transmitters, as they are now known as Arquiva (sp?) NTL was set up for after the IBA was split in 1990, just that some Cable companies bought up NTL and took NTL as the name for their service.
Though by 2007 it'll be known as Virgin, and within 10 Years our Cable Service will have been through four names. (Nynex, Cable & Wireless, NTL and Virgin)

Going off topic for a wee minute here but seeing we are talking about NTL just thought i'd ask one question. In the afternoons on RTE One when Neighbours is on ntl broadcasts a message saying "Due to reasons beyong NTL's control the following programme cannot be broadcast" or something along those lines. Is this because RTE One roughly broadcasts Neighbours at the same time as BBC One and therefore BBC One has the rights in the UK?
Secondly found this image on the internet and thought it was cool so decided to post it here

I'm not aware of any rights row between RTE and the BBC.
Are you sure it's not Home And Away that's blocked out on RTE? RTE have a long standing rights issue with Five.
