The final remanent of the old Carlton brand is being dropped today, with the Irish arm of Carlton Screen Advertising, which was de merged from the GB arm and sold a few years back, finally dropping the name and along with it the famous (if somewhat scarey) star ident. Brings the Carlton brand to an end. It'll be "Wide Eye Media" now and they seem proud of their new ident...

RIP Carlton Star.

I know a lot of people hated Carlton but that branding was very good. It was tragic, in a way, that it was only on TV for just over three years. Felt longer at the time but I was much younger then. Funny how time condenses as you get older.

Yeah the branding was exceptional I certainly remember being in awe at the time as we had nothing to the same standards in Yorkshire.

Did Lambie-Nairn do the Carlton Screen Advertising ident/sting as well? It was always great to see that in the cinema, not just the visuals but the soundtrack was great as well.

EDIT: Judging by the fact it's uploaded to Lambie-Nairn's YouTube channel, I guess it was. For those who don't remember:

I never understand why ITV sold if off.

They were flogging all non-core assets at the time, and it was loss making (only sold for £500k).

Do you think this was a deliberate parody?

I do wonder if anyone at FACT ever realised that the only people who ever had to sit through that were people who had paid and were watching legally.

The small T over a normal sized L is history as well.

It dawned on them a few years ago (goodness knows why it took them so long) and they replaced them with messages saying "Thank you for buying a legal copy" or something along those lines.
