and i think doctors is moving to a four wall-er in solihull, still produced by bbc birmingham tho - or did i dream that?

The BBC are looking for other sites for large studio stuff like the Doctors sets somwhere in the Birmingham area. Its amazing just how much of the building they use in the programme - corridors, front steps, the Leather Bar (always sounds dodgy to me that...) is where Pebble Mill at One used to be, and the main surgery reception is in the bit where Anne and Nick had their bay window. The Police station exterior shots are the main Pebble Mill reception with fake police signs over the BBC signs! I know someone who temped there, and he thought the Building Society they have on the front was real, and was shocked when he was told the cash point wouldn't work Smile

thinking about the last studio based show - what about that programme pebble mill produced for bbc knowledge at its launch - called "the k club" or something similar.

The K Club normally came from a 'cybercafe' in the training centre at Marylebone High Street. They didn't use a studio..... doubt they could have aforded it!

The last programme from a studio at Pebble Mill was Call My Bluff

for those who do not read the central west and bbc midlands thread (do such people exist?!?), bbc midlands have bben trailing the show - and it is now on at 1.15pm instead of 1pm, and it looks very fab.

You get sea sick just looking at the changes,no seriously its a brillaint news programme, which i was brought up on, and still love to this day. Rock On Nick Owen!

The new set launched in September. Doesn't time fly?

I think there's a strong chance they'll change studio. I don't think BBC Health & Safety would allow them to present from a studio that was being demolished Laughing

Yes, K Club was the pre-runner to Xchange and was presented by Kirsten O'Brian and Ortis. I don't know much about it, but I know a couple of people who worked on it...

Also, just because a production doesn't come out of a studio it doesn't mean it isn't made there! All the post and pre-production will be done in the building along with a lot of the crew (director/reserachers etc). Camera crew are usually freelance and bought in on a programme by programme basis.

It was very worthy, like everything on Knowledge at that time it was made by the Education department,

It was absolutely nothing like Xchange

Being an education programme it would have been based at White City.

Perhaps it moved to brum at some point
