Kate seems to be enjoying herself with a lot of off script banter & confusion over the cameras, she's making everyone have a giggle though.

Twitter seems to be split between "Why on earth have you brought that awful woman back" and "At last you've seen the light and brought that lovely woman back"

Any need for Richard Arnold AND Dan Wootton at Cannes? Either is bad enough, with Richard being the less annoying of the two.

Dan will probably be there for the Sun.

Watching a video of today's opening, why does Sean Fletcher always seem to put his foot in it? Talking about how One Direction were 'four unknown wannabe's' this time four years ago, he looks round at the table and starts laughing! I quite like his banter but you can sense the people behind the scenes cringing! Laughing

Dan is there for "Lorraine" but why Richard can't do both? Seems a waste of money to be honest but there we go, it's ITV Breakfast's budget to blow.

To be honest, I thought Kate was brilliant this morning. She maintained the news agenda of the show but also lightened things up. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves. It will be interesting to see how the ratings fair for today - would Kate fans and old Daybreak viewers who may have migrated to BBC tune in knowing she was on? Or it could have gone the other way and she was a turn off for others.

Either way, personally, I enjoyed this morning's show more than any of the others since the launch.

To be fair, majority of reaction I saw to Kate on DS or twitter was positive. She always had good chemistry with Ben back on GMTV so it wasn't surprising it seemed more of a team this morning.

I wonder whether we'll see more of Kate with Ben as time goes by.

I agree with the comments so far, whether you like or dislike Kate I thought she did very well this morning in her expanded newsreader role. She does have a strong journalistic background which showed this morning and she had great banter with the team. Kate and Ben always had great chemistry together on GMTV so she did fit very well into the new team (although others might disagree).

I definitely think we will see much more of Kate and Ben over the coming weeks and months if the ratings continue to slide. This week GMB has averaged between 540,000 - 600,000 and the raw average viewing figures excluding (+1 and HD) has fallen by 30% in nearly 3 weeks since the launch, It must be a concern for ITV that despite a brief boost in ratings there basically back to Daybreak's levels before it was axed. However, these figures will most likely continue to fall with new rating lows come the summer. I think the acid test will be in autumn to see if ratings recover to any extent.

I totally agree, really they should have launched the show in the autumn, when schools went back, and people are more likely to start a fresh. However because of this time they will be more practiced, so maybe they plan on doing a large promotional campaign leading up to the schools going back in September, and attempting to attract a larger audience- and it could work. I thought Kate was fantastic today! Her and Susanna seemed to work okay together- shame really because Charlotte has been good, but its just not as watchable!

I am surprised this part of the set only appears to have been used once in the whole time GMB has been on air! (which is coming up for a month now!!) I think this is well designed (whilst very GMA) and works well, but seems under used! I could be wrong, tend to watch most of the highlights on their website in the afternoon/evening, as I have very little time to watch telly in the morning!

Just her face behind a Youtube play button is annoying. Then you press play and she's ten times worse than you remember. Embarrassing.

That theme tune though is amazing - first time I've heard it in full in a couple of weeks and it really does work well. I do think the 3rd headline especially highlights some issues with the show - for people waking up an underweight manequin in New York is not the third most important story of the day.

All four main presenters though doing a good job though I would like to see Sean given the chance to lead the programme at some point. I do think moving forward into the autumn it's probably best to cut the team down to three hosting per day with 3 of the 4 hosting at any one time. I do think any combination pretty much has all bases covered.
