UTV didn't get a recorded handover for "Good Morning Northern Ireland" we just got a break sting

Nice touch with Ben introducing the regional presenter - I'm wondering how that'll work for relief/new presenters who Ben's not recorded though?

Good Morning Scotland here in STV land.

I am afraid to say that in my region (Tyne Tees), we saw a frozen picture of Ben Shepherd for around four seconds and then our news started as usual. Seems like something didn't quite work for us.

We got something along the lines of 'Now your local news with Gaynor Barnes, hi there Gaynor' from Ben - Gaynor thanked him on the monitor in the studio, and the regional news was otherwise the same.

Surprised that rumoured region-specific handovers have actually turned out to be true. I struggle to believe that they'll keep that up long-term.

The graphics are messy, the presentation and terminology is very American, everything seems rushed, and the pace is unrelenting. I hate it.

And hopefully enough people hate it with me so this style is killed off before it can spread. "Happening now"? No thank you.

They are recorded on the day of broadcast. Alternatively, a wide shot of the regions studio could have the national VO on top of it.

We also got "Now your local news with Rachel Sweeney, good morning Rachel" in Border, then Rachel was by the screen.

I presume the "glass" door on the left is in fact a printed image of a fake CGI corridor?

Why would you presume that? Surely they wouldn't put an exit sign above it if it wasn't real.

It actually looks like the ITV News studio through those doors!

Seems they've got round the Daybreak window problem by using a prerecorded background. Noticeable change in weather when they went to the news!

I've found that with most new things, Facebook is one place you shouldn't go. A mixed bag of comments on the official page, but many are saying they 'hate it' - 'bring back Aled' apparently.

Twitter seems a bit more positive, it has to be said.

The handover seemed to work ok in London. A bit of a pause at the start of Ben's clip, but otherwise fine. Really liking what I'm seeing so far...
