Although GMB carries ITV News branding, it isn't actually ITV News at all is it really ?

I think the correspondents are specific to ITV Breakfast Ltd, the likes of Sue Jameson and Richard Gaisford have moved from GMTV to Daybreak to GMB but they are not part of ITV News.

The ITV breakfast shows are always a bit stretched for correspondents and news resources . I don't know why they don't bring it properly into the ITV News Group.

Neither do I. I always assumed with Daybreak it was some hang over from a previous contract, like when Reuters used to be involved with GMTV, but with GMTV having ended years ago, they must have renewed these arrangements since.

Although you'd still see different reporters, just like you do on Breakfast, they do always seem completely different from ITV News. Do they do the news gathering at The London Studios with a separate newsroom from ITN?

By now many years after the merger you'd expect all this internal politics to have been ironed out and for everyone, national, regional, Breakfast and even STV/UTV to be singing from the same hymn sheet.

And haven't ITV Plc done some sort of deal with STV and UTV with regards to the use of the ITV brand?

I think it's the other way round - STV and UTV got ITV to agree that they should get a share of the web and non-telly marketing rights. For example, some of the big name primetime shows will say things like "check out the website" and itv.com, u.tv and stv.tv all appear on screen. Same with product tie-ins and stuff. It's also why the various catch-up players ask for a postcode so each the 'correct' company can get your click and ad revenue.

60 seconds on BBC Three, had a bit on GMB, saying that it got off to a good start but she also said something about 'needing planning permission for those grins'?

Richard Gaisford's cameraman was attacked in Donetsk today, fortunately all are alright.

I wasn't asking anything, it was meant because I was questioning why she said that.

It's called a joke.

Could be an interesting story to feature near the top tomorrow following the school murder.

Critic, Rob Leigh of The Mirror apparently commented on his blog during the show: "they're smiling so much their faces will need planning permission for grinny extensions." This was presumably being recounted by 60 Seconds.

You're welcome.

....Is it CGI though? How did they make the tower look so clean and glossy, when we all know it's a drab concrete monster from the 60s? ...

I'm not sure where you get your information from. The building was constructed in the 1970's and is coated with millions of small whitish italian terrazzo tiles.

It does look awful though. I wouldn't be surprised if it saw a recladding now ITV has bought it.

And haven't ITV Plc done some sort of deal with STV and UTV with regards to the use of the ITV brand?

STV, UTV and, I think Channel complained that ITV plc were using the ITV brand on things like ITV Digital even though the ITV name was jointly owned by all franchisees. This was despite the fact that UTV/STV didn't really the ITV name or branding.

They reached a settlement eventually.

A comment on the Digital Spy live blog from 6.30am that the regional news failed to play and they got the theme instead - anyone know where that was?
