Ah, Cando always the optimist I see
Here is my review –
Positives;
Even though as Cando points out this was just as newsy as the launch of Daybreak v2 the feel and look of the programme was much more newsier in approach helped by the on-screen presentation including the ITV News ticker. Like many others have said despite the strong American influence I really liked the titles and theme music. The look, the feel and style of the programme was different, but in a positive way. I appreciate not all forum members like the new look show and there entitled to their own opinions.
Negatives (Areas I think could be improved);
The pace of the show was quite fast, perhaps in my opinion maybe too fast as some parts of the show seemed a bit rushed. Others might disagree, but I think they should slow down the tempo. There are elements of the presentation which I think are quite messy there is simply too much going on. Another issue that I have with the graphics is that there a bit gimmicky ‘new this morning’ and ‘developing story’. It might be the traditionalist within me but ‘Headlines’ would be suffice.
There was also a lack of interaction between the presenters due to fast pace tempo. I would have appreciated a bit of time to get to know the presenting team. A solution could be to slow down the pace a bit and do a proper newspaper review with the presenters discussing the main headlines setting the news agenda (bit like ‘In the Mix’ but more formal). It’s also important for the core audience to engage with the new programme, but there were few opportunities today for the presenters to share viewer opinions and comments – similar scenario to Daybreak v1 launch and Daybreak v2 re-launch. I’m also unclear as to the precise roles of each main presenter. I thought Sean was a bit of a spare part as Ben, Susanna and Charlotte were covering the main news stories.
As for the mixed reaction on the likes of Facebook and Twitter are to be expected. As I’ve said continuously people do not like change. The reaction was the same for Daybreak’s launch and re-launch. It’s something ITV will have to deal with whether this format can connect with viewers which is the fundamental question.
Overall, I think a solid launch for GMB, but areas to work on and improve. The ratings should be interesting tomorrow. At least it is a marked improvement on the end of Daybreak in my opinion.

I'd say ditch Andi Peters and put the weather on the OB as Sunrise does in Australia.
It's quite funny isn't it however much we like something we're all wanting to change things or predicting who will be first out. One thing I would say is if it is successful I'd be tempted to extend it through to 9.25am - I felt Lorraine afterwards was fairly jarring, though it doesn't help they don't close the show properly. I'd then move Lorraine to the afternoons.
Lorraine's programme averages around 1m doesn't it? So I doubt they'd be willing to move it anytime soon.
That's why it should only be moved if GMB is a success and earned the extra airtime. I do think Lorraine at 8.30 limits what they can do with their breakfast slot - and with ITV having trouble with Loose Women I think the option could be there to reschedule her show and help refresh the afternoons. The show fitted well enough after Daybreak, even the original incarnation, but it isn't such a good fit with GMB.
I think it would be a good idea if Sussana and Charlotte are both off, to have either Ranvir and Kate (not both) and laura at the desk as I felt her appearance lurking on the side of the desk at the TOTH quite out of place and awkward.

What about Natasha Kaplinski covering on GMB every now and again, she has done breakfast in the past?!

Yes. I had been saying on the Breakfast thread that it would be quite funny if she went back to the been as a replacement for Susanna, but hadn't actually considered this. A face that we all know... She's perfect.

What I don't get with the introduction to the opt-outs is why they don't name check the region. Seems to make it more generic to me, not more personal to the region.
Well, in the two northernmost ITV plc-owned regions at least, it avoids having to record separate "Tyne Tees" and "Border" references, I suppose!
Elsewhere, it makes no odds (re: the total number of regional links that have to be recorded) whether they say presenter name, region name or both. There's nothing to stop them from tweaking and experimenting with exactly how they want to word it, over the days/weeks to come, should they see fit to.
The preference for doing the link on the basis of presenter name, rather than anything else, seems to fit with the general American-style "now I'm handing you over to <name> (with the <sport/weather/whatever>)" way of doing things, so why not?

Both look great.
As for Kaplinski - think they've the female stand-ins more than covered really, but could certainly see ITV News folk (a bit further down the pecking order) drafted in more for this than it's predecessors, or perhaps more senior presenters joining the team in the event of a big story.
P.S. Good round up of reviews and comments on Digital Spy: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a567255/good-morning-britain-reactions-and-reviews-round-up.html#~oCL4kmarzms9Dl
One comment which stands out and potentially kills three birds with one stone is axing the out of place Richard Arnold and Ross King and using Andi Peters as the entertainment reporter instead.
Here's a side by side comparison of the 6am and 7am openings. Thanks to TV Live (and Rob) for the original footage.

Like who? I can't really think of anyone unless they perhaps used a regional presenter like Tony Morris.
