ITV's flagship breakfast show Daybreak re-launched in September 2012 with new presenters, new graphics and a new set designed by BDA. The set design comprised a lounge space
backed by six 103" plasma screens
in place of windows. Lightwell were commissioned to prepare the world outside of the windows. Working with BDA through the summer of 2012, we developed a design for an exterior courtyard space overlaid with shade from surrounding trees. The looping animation of this scene plays in the plasma screen windows for the duration of the broadcast.
Adding news and weather, that would be 8. Any idea where the six went? News and weather went to the GMB window and interview area, what about the rest? Lorraine doesn't have a 103" screen, neither does This Morning or Loose Women.
From memory there were only 3 103" screens behind the right side of the sofa as you looked at it (the guest side) with the screens behind the presenter and to the left of the sofa being smaller screens.
Maybe this included the news and weather screens, or just an incorrect number.
With so many presenters, and one of the most expensive 'star' signings, I'm not sure that can really be justified. Also, don't they do all their own news production and on-location news reporters? It can't be cheaper than not doing a show at all.
The presenters are all on contracts, though, so if you were to axe it you'd have to pay them all off. And if you were to drop GMB you'd still have to do news in the morning, and still have reporters there.
Gaby Roslin is standing in for Richard Arnold tomorrow, according to her Twitter. Am I right in thinking shes stood in for Lorraine before, too? If not she'd be a good stand-in...
I don't remember her standing in for Lorraine, but doesn't mean that she hasn't. I wonder why there's no Andi Peters covering. I've heard people say that they find Andi annoying, but I think that his comments to the team and the crew bring a happy atmosphere to the screen, but as that article stated people want news at breakfast not fun.
She did do the BBC London Breakfast show alongside Paul Ross. Looks like she left there a few years ago (around the same time as Danny Baker) but still does a show on Sunday afternoons

She was taken off breakfast last year and replaced by Penny Smith.
