I believe STV got something pitiful (100,000) so whatever way you slice it, Good Morning Britain did a good job.
GMB had a worse audience share than last Friday. It's peak was less than a third of the BBC. The extra 90 minutes was well down in both viewers and share on Lorraine and Jeremy Kyle. Utter nonsense to pretend it did well.

100,000 at 0530-0600 on ITV Network? Wow - that's incredibly low considering the final results were still coming in.
Takes believin'.
STV figures:
02:00 - Scotland Decides: 60k (15.9%)
Peak: 111k (21.0%) at 06:45
07:00 - Scotland This Morning - How the Nation Voted: 82k (12.5%)
Peak: 134k (19.3%) at 08:45
10:00 - This Morning: 53k (10.2%)
Aren't those the figures for just the STV region? I was talking about the figures for the STV show (which was networked across the UK) on the ITV network which will have been GMB's inheritance in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

I just did... and I'm certainly not pretending anything. I think it did well.
It's my opinion and it's just as valid as yours. Of course it had a worse share, more people were watching TV and choosing BBC, as the vast majority of people do for big events (it's ad free, why on earth wouldn't you?). It's incredible GMB got the boost it did, even without STV. I expected it to get around 300,000 or something.
Sure there were some hiccups but I'm sure all the broadcasters had them.

Only its not my opinion, the rubbish ratings are facts. You have no clue about ratings if you think those were good and it being 500-600k down on Jeremy Kyle hurt This Morning's ratings too.
You were expecting less than 300k despite it running an extra 90 minutes on the biggest news day of the year It doesn't even fall below 300k on a bank holiday.
Amen, except for the bold text, the BBC are terrible for election coverage pres-wise, ITV have their VR working overtime, Sky has Kay, and to an extent Martin, doing marathon stints at presenting and use their big screen with really interesting infographics. The Beeb is just
meh
when it comes to elections, nothing draws you in. Big events, I'd say Philip Schofield and Julie Etchingham are a bigger draw for most people, with Kay coming a very close second and Simon McCoy coming third, IMO. The Beeb have the resources to draw in everyone with, again IMO, very little extra effort.
Amen, except for pretty much everything you said. The BBC are by no means terrible for election coverage pres-wise, as whilst the local elections pre-NBH generally had some *interesting* variations on the News Channel ticker which usually didn't line up (a problem resolved post the NBH move), their graphics aren't awful by any stretch of the imagination. Their 'studio' for the referendum coverage looked very nice, was lit very well and made good use of the space they had - their use of VR was also a pretty substantial step up from normal, making use of AR in a real space, as opposed to it all being computer generated and looking clearly fake.
The only fault I could see pres-wise was the opening titles (something no broadcaster got right IMO), using the election music on a sequence not timed particularly well to it or matching normal election graphics. BBC One Scotland used different music but it was still odd, and on the Friday used the Reporting Scotland music with the same sequence that sounded even stranger. STV's initial titles were simply too long meanwhile, with it taking a good five months to reach the end of them, whilst Good Morning Britain's titles (keeping this on topic) simply weren't up to the same standard as that of their normal ones. It might of looked better if they'd changed shot between the two parts of the titles (the London skyline part and then the ITV studios part), instead of just moving the same pan over a CG Edinburgh a bit further on.
Anyway, back to my point about disagreeing with you.

Since when has Kay Burley been a draw or a positive of election coverage? People seem to be continuously complaining about her! All the overnight presenters were doing 'marathon stints at presenting', so the fact that Sky did is not a distinguishing factor as to why Sky is, in effect, better. Yes, they have an oversized gimmicky screen, but the BBC (and to a lesser extent STV) also put out some pretty good graphics (in this scenario though surely all the graphics should be informative).

I'd say they're not. At elections David Dimbleby is a massive draw, having his own computer counterpart, which shows the 'fanbase' he has. He, along with BBC election coverage and other BBC election presenters has a reputation for being informative and in general good at what he does. Meanwhile, Phillip Scofield presents 'This Morning' - I fail to see why there's a bigger draw to him...
Yes GMB's ratings aim Friday were not as high as the Beeb and nobody thought any different! However between 6 and 7 GMB got a higher audience than normal and hit 900k viewers at 7:15 which is an increase and ratings were slightly stronger during Lorraine's spot than what they have been recently.
