I disagree, he had the world cup and then the commonwealth hence the reason he hasn't been in the studio. He was then on his holiday break like the other presenters had.

A video-link guest, coming from the States droppeded her microphone at the last minute of the interview, and uttered a certain word beginning with 'S'. Unfortunately the microphone still picked this up quite clearly, so John and Susanna quickly moved on to the next item.

I think the point is Shaun is used as an sports reporter/correspondent as opposed to a main presenter. These events World Cup, Commonwealth Games, Wimbledon all major sports events which would of been covered fairly on Daybreak however rather than Shaun it would of been just a reporter not a presenter. I think maybe they like the way it works with the three of them at the helm and John, Ranvir & Kate fit into that line up quite well too.
I hope when Charlotte goes off, they don't turn it into just Ben & Susanna as the main presenters.
