Interesting move that Kate wasn't allowed outside unlike Charlotte yesterday. Perhaps a move to weaken the chemistry between her and Ben?
Also Ben mentioned that it wasn't ''end of term'' for all - perhaps Susanna is now off with Charlotte stepping up for the summer?
Surely they would have said something. I took it as either he was referring to the Scottish and other school terms that had already finished, or how they don't get an end of term on GMB?
Great show today, i watched for a good 40 minutes. First hour packed with news, follow up on the top story with great interviews. Ben was rather out of his depth tho, again.
Agreed, good show, handled the MH17 story very well, especially Charlotte, in my opinion. Watching the 6am TOTH, I did notice that the ticker on screen and the one on the wall was not in sync, there were a little off, hopefully that problem gets sorted.

In the grand scheme of things, is it a problem that needs sorting? I mean the one on the wall in the studio is there for aesthetic reasons and isn't seen on screen for a great deal of time.
That, and the fact that there will always - always - be a delay between the graphics and camera feeds of the studio, however minute it might be.

Im sure things like floating graphics would be a good thing to get sorted first You can't see the ticker in most shots but should be fixed eventually, haven't noticed the problem myself...
The show was presented primarily from outside again today by Ben and Susanna with news updates from in the studio read by Kate. Seemed a bit weird they didn't have her outside like they had the 3 yesterday.
That wasn't simply because there are a couple of really big, developing news stories going on which it would have been hard to cover in an appropriate way from the decking outside? Possibly to put some distance between the "end of term" atmosphere and the serious news?
Matt Barbet presenting a new show on ITV 4 named 'the cycle show', as far as i'm aware it's been going on for a few weeks. I assume this is to see out the remainder of his contract at ITV? e.g 'weekend' with aled jones..

Yes. The show is actually in its 3rd series, and the 2nd episode aired on Tuesday.

I doubt it - more likely to be a freelance gig. It's not that unusual to see newsreaders cropping up elsewhere on non-news related shows.
I agree about yesterday's show they handled the big news stories really well mixed in with some lighter features which was good. However, the ratings are still pretty woeful averaging between 480,000 - 550,000 this week with a 12-15% audience share. The broadcast outdoors by the Thames this week haven't really benefited the programme with BBC Breakfast remaining solid with 36-39% audience share.
If you were to take into account year on year comparisons for the month of July;
GMTV averaged 750,000 in 2010
Daybreak averaged 743,000 in 2011
Daybreak averaged 670,000 in 2012
Daybreak averaged 630,000 in 2013
GMB so far has only averaged 520,000
Over the last five years there has been consistent decline, but the biggest has been between this year and last year. To be fair if Daybreak was on air it probably wouldn't rate any better. But, the problem for ITV is that surely there will be immense pressure to turn things around.
Also, even though the Commonwealth Games is not as big a sporting event as the Olympics in 2012. As Breakfast will be broadcasting from Glasgow will that have an effect on GMB's ratings leading to further declines next week. I could conceivably see ITV Breakfast's lowest ratings during the Summer holidays with new lows of possibly 200 - 300,000 viewers and single digit audience shares. This will probably generate more negative publicity for the programme.
Whatever GMB had done this week they'd have been upstaged by the dog on the beach on Breakfast anyway. I still think until they ditch the relic of GMTV completely and draw a line under that era completely they just won't be able to move on - at the moment it's too GMTV for people who didn't like GMTV and not GMTV enough for those who did.
