The report does show though that yet again ITV have poached someone from the BBC only to then try and change them to suit what they think the audience wants, which begs the question why they just didn't go for an unknown.

The problem with GMB which was also the problem with Daybreak is that no one knows what it's trying to be - news or fluff.

That report is hilarious. If any of it is true - doubly so.

"Susanna has been told to nod more, look more sympathetic and engage."
“Most of their big-hitting presenters have been blonde – Anthea Turner, Kate Garraway, Fiona Phillips."
"Holly Willoughby is held up as the perfect nodder during interviews and she’s as opposite to Susanna as you can get."

So... Why did they hire her? And why were 1.5m viewers watching her when she was brunette, not nodding and less sympathetic (and not Holly Willoughby) on Breakfast, and now only 0.5m viewers are watching her on GMB?

Nobody says "The reason I don't watch Good Morning Britain is because Susanna doesn't nod enough."

And Susanna always tries to look sympathetic and it is horrible and fake and contrived.

I agree, Especially when she's introducing the competition. It's beyond awkward imo.

Because they weren't watching her they were watching a BBC News programme, something which ITV just don't get.

I partially agree with that, although I would ask what you would TVam's GMB (Anne & Nick onwards) & GMTV be classed as. They weren't serious and stuffy with constant news, and they weren't always fluffy when there were serious things to discuss.

Can someone remind me. I keep reading that the GMTV formula worked in its day. In a nutshell, why did it work?

Not true.

That was a rather pointless post if you don't mind me saying.

I still think that Susanna is fabulous. She isn't the problem.

The fundamental thing that they just don't get is that the more they dumb down and make it all fluffy and showbiz, the more people turn off. It's as simple as that. I'm not saying to go for pure hard news, but they seem to have this really narrow range in mind as to who they want to appeal to, and they seem reluctant to let go of that.

The show looks fantastic, the presenters work well - they just need the confidence to go more intelligent than they do now.

I think part of it came down to the BBC offering a hard news service with channel 4 offering an entertainment programme, with GMTV falling into the middle somewhere.

I wouldn't say she's fabulous but I agree that she's not the problem.

She is a good newsreader and presenter but sometimes comes across as very fake. However it is the content that is letting it down.

You're absolutely right.

The more they make Susanna walk out of her comfort zone, the more she appears to be fake. So I think they need to keep her at what she's good at.
