Guessing that is because they went straight outside from makeup? Also, the same Wimbledon graphics as last year were used.

Possibly because being outside they would have big differences in lighting (due to the sun moving) and background noise between what they recorded at 5.30 or whenever they do it and what precedes it when it's played out a couple of hours later. It would look even less natural than normal.

I do hope today's outdoor segments are a trial from a full show outside sometime in the summer.

EDIT: Classic 'Here is the news where you are' line used, just need an overly orange studio with a bouncy red sofa and a guffawing Kate Garraway and we've journeyed back 4 years !

Name strap was set for Susanna and Ben inside rather than Ben and Susanna outside. I have to say, that 7 am opening was very smooth, fluid, and echoed a big morning show in its heyday, ye a professional hand over to a very professional Kate Garraway.

It looks lovely, and is very much like GMTV with 'the news where you are' and all the news with Kate. The problem is that the chemistry with Kate is something that has helped the programme over the past few weeks.

Recently, the whole 'Susanna & Ben, plus 2 other people' thing has really faded away and the show feels like an ensemble, much like the American shows that it is based on, except that instead of the weather presenter being part of the team, it is a sports presenter. People really need to forget that Kate presented all the fluff crap between 2004 and 2012, she is now a newsreader, reading the news on ITV in the morning, who also has the capability to present the full programme.

Shows looking good, like it from outside on the South Bank. I've always preferred the ITV shows (TV-am, GMTV, Daybreak and GMB) over the BBC's option (other than the original BBC Breakfast Time).

The show looks and feels very good from what I saw this morning. A nice pace to it all.

The show was great today, had a nice feel to it. The balance between news and features was spot on and felt much better to watch in general. Kate was also brilliant. She's very capible at the newsreader role, a lot of people seem to forget she was and still is a journalist.
As others have said, it just had a much better feel to it, the chemistry between Ben and Susanna along with the others, and Kate really adds something to the show.
Also, that tv pres geek inside me loved the show being outside at the south bank, and the live shots of ITV towers, it looked great Smile
EDIT: notice the desk was from the 2012 Lorraine set..
