I think they need to try something different through the summer, and it would be nice if they went on a Summer Roadshow type thing. Its not like they have much to loose by experimenting.

They might as well have Kate, Ranvir and John doing something like that. They could do something like a tour of Brazil for the World Cup too.
True, and the same goes for BBC Breakfast - but Daybreak used to have live musical performances. Personally I think they're a good idea - a way to hook in extra viewers who like a particular act, and something that appeals to the kind of audience who like some music in the mornings and need a good reason to swap radio for TV.
With a few exceptions music performances are usually ratings poison. It's why most programmes put them at the end of their shows - so they take the audience drop hit at the end (and its thus proportionally less).
They are often a requirement for the guest/band's appearance (as they will significantly increase CD/Download sales for the featured artist) - and are often subsidised by the record company (who will pay for extra lighting, sound etc.) but they are not a ratings magnet (though if you get a good guest then they are sometimes worth it)...
I echo the sentiments of others that the content really does need to improve. The problem at the moment just like Daybreak is inconsistency between shows. They really need to prioritise the news headlines above the light and showbiz features. It's a balance they are simply not making. I would definitely make the 6am much more newsier with entertainment and light features shown after 7. In my opinion I still find the wheel of cash absolutely pointless and a waste of air time.
In terms of ratings this week viewing share has been hovering between 14 and 15% still low compared with Breakfast's 36-37% share. This will certainly get worse for GMB as we approach the summer holidays.
Also, I know many hate presenter related questions (my apologies), but with Sean going away for a month next week to cover live OB's of the Brazil World Cup will GMB simply have 3 presenters at the desk or will they bring in the likes of John, Ranvir or Kate to fill in for him.
Would TVam have triumphed if Breakfast Time hadn't have changed to the Breakfast News format though?
Yes. Breakfast Time retreated in the face of TV-am's growing popularity.
I've never read or seen that claim made in any of the accounts of the time that I've read - maybe I've been reading the wrong things.
TV-am had overtaken the BBC by the end of 1984. Breakfast Time didn't change to the news format until late 1986 and didn't become Breakfast News until the late 80s.
Rewatching "The Battle for Britain's Breakfast" leads me to believe that TV-am only definitively overtook Breakfast Time in 1986 - the way it was phrased was that they reacted rather quickly, and foolishly, to a slight lead TV-am had (60% as opposed to their 40%), and that TV-am only truly succeeded because of the change.
Dr Hilary was at the desk for the 6am open, missed the aston as the start so I don't know if he was name checked. John is in for Ben this morning.
Dr. Hilary seems to be simply filling the spare seat for every TOTH and half hour opening. He is giving details on the top story though, hence why he's there.
However, why not Kate or Ranvir this morning?
