In the case that GMB fails, would it be possible to launch their update on itv2 instead, at least over the first month-6 weeks. It would allow chemistry to develop, whilst the press might not jump on the failing show. It would allowed all the producers to work on content ect. and allow them to launch on the main channel once all the creases are smoothed... Would this work???

NOOOOOOO! NO! NO! No it would not work. It won't get enough publicity. ITV2 is not respected as well. The tabloids would still slam it and say, why is it on ITV2? ITV2 has the wrong demographic. The programme needs to be on the main channel because it is the main channel - designed for things like GMB. Ratings would be even worse seeing as ITV2 is not highly watched. It is simply laughable. GMB has ties in with branding for the main channel as well. Why can't they work on content now? It isn't hard. Get ITN on the job. TVam had crap ratings but they worked on it and it was eventually triumphant over Breakfast Time.
Would TVam have triumphed if Breakfast Time hadn't have changed to the Breakfast News format though?
I agree about performances, the only times I've seen that area used are for Martin Lewis (the first week or so only) and when Ben chatted to a guy who does tricks with a football who kept it in the air as they walked across to the sofa.
Do they follow the TVam route if things get severely bad and read the bingo number out?
In the early days of GMTV, didn't they use the Fun in the Sun roadshow and the Get Up & Give to get popstars on in the holidays to appeal to the kids who with pester power made their parents watch it? That coupled with how massive Power Rangers was back then surely helped people to see the rest of the programme and begin to change their viewing habits.
If you are interested, on the Sitting Duck Music&Media website there is the Lorraine theme and bed (the bed sounds lovely!) and into break sting , also the GMB weather sting, break sting and the intro, which much to my upset in not clean.

Thanks for that. I think the Lorraine bed is great, I agree it sounds lovely.
I think the format is lovely, it's just the content which falls totally short.
If they're going to present it as a news programme, it should focus on the news, ditch a lot of the froth, ditch GMTV legacy acts like Hilary Jones and the reporter in front of the Hollywood sign, and have one ad break per hour at the quietest time (perhaps at 6.55, 7.55 before the TOTH).
Agree on most things but for obvious reasons they're not going to put their ads at the quietest time. Personally I prefer the ad structure GMB have gone with - I think it works better.
For all I defend it though just turning on this morning in the middle of a Justin Beiber story which was then followed by a report on the D-Day commemorations just highlighted where they're getting their priorities wrong. It's not that showbiz fluff should be got rid of completely but it should always be at the end of the running order, or if they must keep him confinded to Richard Arnold's time on the sofa. Indeed keeping the entertainment news (well, gossip - that's the problem) to that section justifies keeping Richard Arnold and allows them to keep the main news section for actual news.
I would love to know the figures for the average amount of time GMB and Breakfast is watched as I suspect if GMB could get the viewers it does have watching for a few minutes more then the average would soon begin to rise. I guess that means it's the content outside of the main news headlines which need strenghtening. Not sure if it's the highest rated part but I feel their main interview is wasted by holding it back for the final 5 minutes.

An ITV source has revealed that they are looking at ways into which they can change the ratings, one idea they have is to get rid of the desk which has been controversial with viewers. Susanna is not happy with the ratings and worries that GMB could damage her reputation and image.

Who and where was it revealed? If Susanna Reid is getting paid £400,000 then she should just do her job instead of worrying about her reputation and image...

I think this link is broken, type in Good Morning Britain into Google and click on the NEWS section and it should be there.

The BBC are seemingly very keen not to slip up, which is probably why there has been several different presenters on recently to gauge social media response to pick the best choice in order to make sure that Breakfast stays in top spot.
Whilst the small amount of social media response may be a fringe consideration - I doubt it will be that significant. 1.5million people watch Breakfast, and only a tiny percentage of them are likely to tweet their views.
