i hope susanna reid hasn't done a "bleakley" - ie committed long drawn out career suicide.

Why would it be 'drawn out'?

Bleakley's demise was quite rapid: there is no reason to think that Reid's will be any slower, even if after thinking that collecting an annual salary of £1m makes up for it.

The press release states "later this year" , when will that be exactly?

P.s : Am I the only person here that will miss this era of Daybreak (GMTVBreak).

I do wonder how Matt and Ranvir feel, they may not be part of the new plans?

Well I assume Charlotte is becoming newsreader, so where does that leave Ranvir? Out of the plans I assume. I think Matt should be retained, for the Newshour with Charlotte, if that is staying too. But I doubt it is. And Kate too, must be going and I can say she will be missed. I cant wait for GMTV though - roll on next September!!

No.. I quite like this era of Daybreak. And I liked all previous incarnations.

I liked the original Daybreak - it was brilliant. Modern, newsy and just had that edge to it. Then it just went downhill when they started changing things. And then, I have liked it from Sep 2012 relaunch.

Well Kate is on Smooth Radio now so I thought it was unlikely she'd stay at Daybreak/GMB.

I don't think we can speculate whether Charlotte is newsreader. I read the press release as saying her and Sean Fletcher would be the stand-in/Friday presenters. I would be surprised to see Sean present a sports segment - it doesn't really fit with the demographic and never quite worked right from when GMTV introduced Dan Lobb.

Regardless, the press release says little about any others on the show including weather presenters and newsreaders, as well as John Stapleton - I'd be surprised if he was let go. Let's just wait and see if we hear any more info over the coming weeks.

Their launch story was Farepak, a 2 year old consumer story. Daybreak 1.0 was a lot of things but newsy it was not. The original was the One show with a few headlines thrown in.

With this information released by ITV, I'm getting the impression that they're going in the direction of the US breakfast shows, Good Morning America and Today. Susanna and Ben, the main presenters, with Charlotte and Sean joining them for the whole programme, but giving news and sports updates, respectively. Taking anoilyrag's clue of 'April 28th' as the presumed launch date for the programme, launching in the summer months, I wouldn't be surprised to see a return of outdoor stage, used for Little Mix on the launch day of 'GMTVBreak'.

Reading Helen warner's comments
Quote:
“Our overriding aim is to continue to improve our breakfast programming for our viewers and we have been working for some time behind the scenes developing the next chapter of our offering.

“Engaging, news driven content is our number one priority and will be at the heart of everything we do on Good Morning Britain.”

makes me think of Good Morning America, from the clips I have seen on YouTube it's fast paced, has a modern looking studio, not like the decades-ago decor we have now. I expect ITV will be wanting that all important 'chemistry' between the four presenters, with a bit of banter like the good old days of GMTV: (Skip to 1:00)

Maybe they are going different, with no newsreader? and just having sean do the sport mon to thurs, then friday Sean and Charlotte?
that's what it seems to me?
Also, Matt, Ranvir and Laura may be kept on? but, they were simply not mentioned due to it being about the new presenters, unlikely but i do like Ranvir, very capible presenter!

The launch must be before September, surely?! they wouldn't announce the new presenters this early in the year.
I also remember a statement by ITV when they relaunched this current incarnation of Daybreak. And they said something like 'Daybreak remains an important part of our daytime shedule, and is continue to be broadcast until spring 2014'. iirc. Also, with the presenting team on 2 year contracts, well just under.. Anyway, April 28th is the date i'd be thinking it would launch! confirmed by a trusted insider at itv, on tvf.
