Very interesting, clearly designed with social distancing in mind.

It may be slightly longer, but I can't imagine they would have designed a new desk - which will presumably be in use for at least a couple of years from past experience - with social distancing in mind.
In the immediate term, yes, presenters will be socially distanced, but after a year of it, I very much hope that'll soon be a thing of the past.
Please, God!
Remember when people used to ... sit next to each other?

I dearly hope we'll be back to that sooner rather than later, and that we'll see very few 'socially distanced' shows from this desk.
Let's think positive!

Do you know what, I’m so used to it by now that I hardly question it. In fact, I now find a lot of recent archive where people are sitting next to each other looks incredibly cramped. When Strictly did their “best of” show last year, I was really surprised how there was so little room behind some of the old judges’ desks - all 4 judges looked uncomfortably close to each other! In the same way, I find it looks completely natural to have the hosts sat apart on GMB now, and I expect this new desk may make it look even more natural since it will have been planned with the extended spacing in mind. Strange how perceptions and expectations change.

The only regular show where I find it does feel awkward is This Morning - I guess due to it being at odds with the “cosy” nature of the set and presentation.

I think you just get used to it either way. I remember when BBC News first moved to NBH I thought two presenters looked incredibly cramped on the desk, but just a few months later looking back at TVC shots it was odd to think they were ever so far apart.

I'm completely the opposite - distancing makes for uncomfortable viewing IMO, but I agree that it is much more noticeable on programmes such as This Morning, as well as SNT.

It feels like a treat when, for example, TM show a throwback to pre-Covid times and no one's having to worry about 2m!

Hopefully, social distancing will only be around for a few more months.

Charlotte seems to be hosting from a new position at the series of screens to the right of the desk with a laptop precariously balancing on the new credenza.

Laura was at the (what was) sofa area in the opening, it looked very good, but I now wonder what’s to the left of the desk... if there’s room for anything.

Laura did the weather as usual at the weather screen with Charlotte now sat at her little desk in the left corner (this could have been like this for a while as I haven’t seen the 6am bulletin for a few months now).

From Charlotte’s Twitter picture does it look like there are no longer any computer underneath the desk for the presenters to use?

So, already Piers has gone off-piste during the TOTH with unscripted sarcastic remarks, meaning Susanna was still talking about Oprah's interview with Meghan & Harry while the graphics had already moved on to show the late actor, Johnny Briggs, and he has then continued to complain about the (former?) royal couple ever since. As professional a start to the show as ever, then...

How ever nice (or not) the new set-up looks, (and credenza Rolling Eyes notwithstanding), if I were one of the folks who make Good Morning Britain , and I looked back on the last few years' output looking for potential improvements, getting a new table would be the very least of my worries.

Nice desk, but I'm gonna have place Piers on mute

I wonder if we might see presenters be less bunched up together when social distancing is eventually scrapped, I notice that the Australian breakfast shows have the presenters distanced but it looks still fairly natural although it varies between the different shows:

I don’t like the new credenza - looks too wide for the screen and everything looks like a bit of a mishmash. Hopefully it will grow on me soon though.
