Eamonn Holmes in his final years on GMTV had 3 months off for the Summer, a 3 day week and 500k a year.
500k that’s ridiculous, some of us don’t get a tenth of that in two years
Just bear in mind that the salary in this case is not won just by walking through a door at 5:59am, plonking your arse on a sofa, then buggering off home at 9:26am.
Getting up at some unGodly hour of the morning, getting to the studio, make-up, wardrobe, probably some food and water I'd hope, briefing of what's going on and what's planned (whether that happens or not is another matter), quick run-through, briefing, the whole "looking fresh as a daisy at 6am" thing, then coming off air, debriefing, maybe more some more food and then deciding to what to do for the next day's show feature wise and going off to do any filming it needs...
I dare say starting work at 4:30am will also probably count as unsocial work hours which may attract either a bonus or a premium and I dare say everybody on the production is out the door and off duty by, what, 4pm at the latest?

Piers Morgan now seems to have the similar holiday arrangement which Johnny Carson had from NBC Tonight Show from 1980, when he hammered at a brilliant deal for himself - only work three days a week, with 15 weeks holiday in the year.
