Holiding it until Monday is ridiculous. The news cycle will have moved on, and it will have dated. Either that or they know it's going to be a sycophantic love-in and have less news value than people imagine.
What happened to Piers Morgan? He used to be a pretty successful campaigning editor of a socially progressive newspaper, that was pretty left leaning. Now he's a caricature.
ITV have made entirely the right decision in my view. Friday nights typically have the lowest ratings, the interview would have been lucky to get 1m at 10pm. By saving it until Monday, they have time to promote the interview, and GMB will see the benefit on Monday morning. The only TV interview conducted with Trump during his visit to the UK will not become less newsworthy over the weekend. Had Trump have done other TV interviews, it would be different. Having special editions of Peston (which non longer exists in its current form) or another GEB are not particularly effective solutions.

Or have a Good Morning Britain on weekends mornings.

I imagine ITV will air lots of promos during the football today and tommrow to let people know GMB are showing the first clips and the rest at whatever time Monday it airs.
Yep - if it was going to be amazing, schedule it against Theresa May on Andrew Marr...
Another idea that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever... (although I’m fairly sure that you’re entirely aware of this).

I would actually say that the big issue with ITV Breakfast is historical. GMTV and Daybreak both attempted to reinvent the wheel, but both of them ultimately ended up falling back to the format originally done by TV-am at its peak. GMB is the first time a harder edge has been tried and it's worked. Not too hard, but certainly the feel of the show is not quite "summer every day" and bright colours TV-am pioneered and then ended up being used by their first two successors.
