With the 27th being a Friday even more than usual would have taken the day off, so they obviously thought there was little point in coming back in for one day with so few viewers watching.
As a comparision BBC Breakfast was only on BBC One until 8am, had no regional news, and had filler back half hours.
They do bank holiday editions now outside Christmas don’t they, which they aren’t obligated to do, so it’ll all even itself out.
Just seen promo for ITV Daytime 2020. Only Piers and Susanna feature for GMB and we haven’t seen much else in the press, so could it be just them doing the whole 3 hours ? (Not with a news half hour as speculated)

I don't believe anyone with any actual knowledge ever mentioned a split of this nature. I think it's safe to assume it'll be the same as it has been since 2014, just half an hour longer.
The listings for the 6th have GMB down from 6-9, so if there is a news half hour it’s not being treated as a separate program. If they simply stick half an hour onto the end of the show I think it’ll be a wasted opportunity.
Half an hour of news (with a local news bulletin too) would be perfect before Morgan arrives and begins his ranting. Splitting the first half an hour off would have given the main GMB a higher rating too, so I’m slightly surprised ITV haven’t gone down this route.

If anyone could provide a link, would be appreciated.

That's a really cheesy promo even by ITV daytime standards! It all seems suprisingly low key actually. I thought This Morning would have gone all out to promote a whole extra 30 minutes of the nation's official most beloved double act Phil & Holly.
ITV basically could not think of a replacement for Jeremy Kyle and decided to just re-jig their other morning shows. Very lack lustre, as they could have had the opportunity to develop some new shows, or re-jig the schedules and refresh it properly, but no they have to save the money to splash out on Ant and Dec somehow, and so we have this "new" schedule for 2020.
Just my opinion, but I would have liked to seen something new added to the current schedules.
