Maybe someone’s forgotten to do the opening graphics, it is Christmas Eve after all! 🙈

Yeah, I'm sure that's what happened. Rolling Eyes

It’s a light-hearted joke, not intended to be taken seriously. Cheer up.

GMB had a rather weird start this morning. It cut from the ident to the hold card, before fading to the presenter shot with no headline graphics.

The name strap was wrong also. And yesterday 🙈🙈🙈

The irony is that if the BBC were advertising funded, ITV would probably quickly find themselves struggling to pay the guy’s wages.

I would gladly advocate the abolition of the licence fee, if one side effect were the disappearance of Piers from television (or, more ideally, from all media outlets of any kind).

So GMB is in "Best-Of" mode this morning.
First time the show is pre-recorded (except fire alarm morning) since GMTV days ? Or even..

Yet the opening still stated "LIVE from Television Centre..."

No newsreader and not even any news... it's just Ben & Kate and clips and interviews with random guests and the GMB team.

Surely if there's no news contained within the programme then this cannot go towards their news output quota.

Even ended on a montage of all the GMB staff. Very similar to how TV-am ended in 1992... I'm sure I even spotted a few TV-am jumpers in some photos.

If the quota is worked out annually then they may well have exceeded it - wouldn’t have been too difficult to achieve that this year.

Should've done this for Christmas Day, much like the US breakfast/morning shows.

There must be a loop hole in their quota of news to allow for this, otherwise OFCOM would be on them fast. I suspect ITV felt that since the 27th landed on a Friday, there was not much need for them to provide a proper breakfast service, as it was the end of a week.

Well in the past they've just aired CITV for most days during the period - does make little sense to produce a show today. Suspect they'll be live all next week apart from New Years Day.

Next year their annual news quota will probably be complete by the end of October with the half hour extension.

Last year they had shows on the 27th and 28th but that could be due to how the calendar fell.

I imagine due to the election, the current affairs quota has been exceeded even accounting for anything that's been shortened due to the RWC
