Have to say I don’t see the point of the Sofa anymore. I’ve seen it used once so far all week for about 3 minutes and the only other time it is used is to have the guests waiting before they have their interview at the desk. I do think it looks nice and I would like to see it being use more, especially after 8:15 which is often the entertainment focused part of the show.

This week has been particularly newsy though, it makes sense to have multiple areas, but they don’t all have to be used all the time.

Alex is back doing the Weather tomorrow, I assume it's Laura Mon-Wed and Alex Thurs-Fri.

Laura returns to full-time in May.

Probably less stressful to get between TVC and BBC White City than between Studio 5 and the 18th Floor of Kent House.

How do you work that out?

The lifts in Kent House are horrendous!

It's an in-joke. The lifts in the LWT/ TLS building are infamously awful.

I thought ITV News now supplied the news for GMB anyway, and had done since for ITV Breakfast since Daybreak. I think they've got the balance right really - there is a link to ITV News there, but somewhat at arms length.

As far as I'm aware, GMB still has it's own newsroom staffed by journalists who have been around since the GMTV era and have their own on-air reporters who are rarely seen on the main ITV News bulletins.

Though there has been more presence of GMB reporters on Itv News in recent months Nick Dixon has been across all Itv News bulletins in last few weeks from Australia and commonwealth games

Wasn’t ITV Daytime based on floors 4-6? So a brisk walk up some stairs!

Yes they were on the 4th and 5th floor.

Did that change at some point because I'm pretty sure GMTV's offices were on floor 18?

Certainly over the last 3 years they've been 4-6. Maybe they moved down when Daybreak launched.

Kate Garraway was quoted recently saying the stairs between the GMTV newsroom & TLS5 were only temporary, yet lasted up until last Friday.

It was the same in at least 1995,
.

Maybe GMTV Ltd was on floor 16th with the corporate control functions up there and the newsroom where it has always been?

They definitely had a presence on the 18th floor - but my point still stands, I'd rather walk 5 minutes to White City One than whichever floor in Kent House.

You would think ITV would have invested in a new lift structure, but no.
