Having taken part in a Viewback discussion, it seems that ITV are proposing to just swallow up the JK gap with what they already have.
Obviously it’s just an idea at this stage so nothing is set in stone, but they’re proposing to extend GMB to 9 and start This Morning at 10 with Lorraine in the middle.
There would also be a new News half hour at 6am with GMB starting at 6.30.
It’s a shame to just see the 9.25 swallowed up, but considering how poor the 9.25 replacements have been rating, I guess this is their only option.

Not sure it's a good idea to mess around with this morning's slot.
I think they should be using this slot to experiment new shows rather than messing about too much with what they know works.

That could possibly work. Would certainly stop the complaints about Piers' rants before the news.
Have the news at 6, and then Piers can start ranting at 6.30.

It does sound interesting. If this was to happen and I know it is just an idea; when would this go live?

The time slots of some of those programmes are iconic, I wouldn’t mess with any of them.

Probably still passes a load of people by that 6am-9:25am is technically separate, even though its now presented as being completely seamless. While it had happened before in the past for something to straddle 9:25am, it was probably only really going to be a matter of time before somebody said sod this, we'll just have a programme that runs for an hour at 9am, not like they have to ensure they're clear for 9:24:59 these days.

Been there already anyway, in the days of a 'hard switch in London at 17:15, that got swallowed up in a new 17:10 to 17:40 slot in the early 90s ?

Its not new, granted, but in fairness most of the rest of the country wouldn't have known that a hard switch thing was going on in London at the time. It was certainly news to me when I came to the TV presentation sites in 2000/2001 and dug into the history and whatever else to learn that one company went off the air at 7pm/5:15pm in London and another company started after them and that this had been going on for years beforehand. Living in the Midlands I knew nothing about it.
The breakfast, okay I knew at the time something was going on because there were no Central cakes or logos or whatever else that plastered every junction after 9:25am so...
