I must admit I was shocked when I switched on and saw Ben and Kate. I thought we were being spared of that after recent holidays.

Didn’t The Big Breakfast used to do this kind of stuff?

It is a bit surprising Ben has agreed to do extra days, especially as he’s doing This Morning on Friday’s too. I don’t mind Ben and Kate, but they only suit Friday’s IMO. Charlotte and Kate are more than capable, I don’t think they need to bring Ben in (especially as he encourages Kate and her nonsense).

Eamonn Holmes and Charlotte would be my choice for Mon-Weds, but Eamonn not wanting to do GMB and TM is understandable.

I honestly don’t understand how it is good for the brand to go so far away from what the show normally does. It just feels so lightweight when Ben and Kate are on. I don’t dislike them but it’s so jarring.

I've said this before but Ben seems more at ease on This Morning than GMB as it plays more to his strengths.

I do agree that he does encourage Kate's nonsense who is more reined in when she's presenting with anyone else.

For the first time in a long time, I switched over to Sunrise. Can't be bothered with GMTV filled nonsense in the morning...

I don't mind Ben and Kate, watching them together fills me with nostalgia.

Ben and Kate are okay when paired with other presenters, but when paired together it is just unwatchable.

At least until mid-September, the show is completely different in format and dire with it. The thing that surprises me is the lack of continuity during the summer break, to swing from tabloid news and a tiny bit of fluff to GMTV style awfulness is jarring when they just let the likes of solid Ben and Kate, who were the trademark of the GMTV cheese loose.

I kinda like a looser morning format. GMB used to have a tight open with a bit harder news edge and it got looser as the hour progressed. It just seems now its all a bit loosey goosey from the top. Not much too much of a fan. But Im not a big of Pier Morgan anyway. So I guess that doesnt help. IMO they should roll the open and get the top stories done and then settle into the coffee-clatch chatty stuff a bit further into the hour. Oh well.

When Piers is on, most of this thread is people complaining that he ruins the show, doesn’t let anyone else get a word in, makes the show run late with items dropped....

Now he’s not on, there are complaints the replacements don’t do the same Piers act...
