GMB is brash, in your face, and exciting at times, and yes, it has the god awful Piers Moron on it three days a week, but it does add something to it,

Tolerating awful people because "they're entertaining" is how we've ended up with Boris Johnson as PM.

That's not quite happenned... feels inevitable though.

I expect by 'rating' he means share..

It's a shame we don't know how BBC Breakfast fared. Dan Walker curiously silent. Historic lows now that there's so much anti-BBC sentiment across the UK?

I very much doubt it. I suspect when GMB's audience rises (by fractional percentages) the audience isn't coming from Breakfast but from elsewhere. Indeed I suspect when GMB's audience rises that Breakfast's audience probably does as well.

Tuesday 11th :
Breakfast 1.4m 39.9% share
Good Morning Britain 0.8m 24.6% share

For comparison - the Tuesday the week before :

Tuesday 4th
Breakfast 1.4m 40.2% share
Good Morning Britain 0.8m 24.6% share

Huge changes there...

It's important to remember for Good Morning Britain, these are good average figures and shares, when you look back at all the issues they've had since getting of GMTV in 2010.

I don't think anything will change when it comes to BBC Breakfast. It's format has pretty much stayed the same for many years now and it works for them. Unless they have a change and mess it up, Breakfast will remain on top.

I can see Good Morning Britain reaching a million average in the next year or so. The show needs to work on bolstering everything around Piers rather than solely relying on him to bring in the drama and ratings because he's not going to be around forever.

The big change has been the media coverage the programme receives. All through Daybreak it was ‘Daybroke’ with negative headlines and rating woes. Since GMB the headlines have gotten ever more positive with much more coverage in the tabloids, despite the ratings not improving much. The perception has changed from failure to being something worthwhile. That’s impressive even if I don’t like or watch the show myself. (Don’t like Morgan).

Remember though, at one time they couldn’t hit a 15% share, therefore there had been a big increase

Anyone who tells me BBC Breakfast is always dull and boring just gets pointed towards the whole flypast thing they did in Sheffield.

But were they spitting out vegan sausage rolls? I think not. Which is clearly judging by GMB's ratings the sort of thing that has viewers tuning in in their millions ... erm.

Both shows have moments where some would think WTF. Both shows have news but cover things differently and aimed at difference audiences. Annoys me when people whittle down a show to one line to make a point.

There are times when the non Piers days do better than the Piers days so perhaps ITV don't see the need to make changes just yet.

I prefer BBC Breakfast because it gives me what I want, the news, weather and sport. It has regular junctions that if I'm not doing certain things when they are on, I'm going to be late. On the days when I've tried GMB, it's all over the place.
