If I'm right in thinking they can do this because they have very few breaks in the first hour and a half. 7.30am - 8.30am is when they get the most viewers so might as well rake in the £££. That said, still odd for us Brits to come back for a couple of minutes and back to break.

The team probably plan a decent length item between each break, but due to Piers that all goes out the window.

I think even when he's not on, you do get more ads as we get past 7.30am. If you catch up on ITV Hub you can see the markers are much closer together then at start.

What an embarrassment the start of todays GMB was. 7 minutes wasted on self congratulation for their biggest ever ratings complete with flashing colour changing lights, graphics on the screen behind, falling confetti over the picture, short clips of celebration songs then a mini rant about a new burger and then some fluff about celebrity juice and Richard Arnold getting his own back with silly string sprayed on the floor in retaliation for them trashing the Piers Morgan life stories set and finally discussion on a Susanna GQ interview
