JK Show has a 5 second segment when all the rest have 15 seconds...

Probably limited by JK being filmed up at MediaCity but (based on some social media posts) this trailer being done in a day at TVC (and at a time when JK isn't shooting to pick some bits up in the studio?). It's an average trailer at best and the whole "Make your mornings" thing is utterly stupid especially when it comes over the Loose Women clips.

Opens with the 5 segment logo then closes with the 3 segment logo. How consistent.

The actual trailer only shows the 3 segment logo at the end but the ITV YouTube channels always put an ident on the start of their videos and it would appear that ITV Daytime haven't got around to changing theirs yet.

The carpet under the desk is now the blue/ turquoise colour, and the lighting on the desk around the GMB logo is now a light yellow. I'm not a fan.

If I’m remembering correctly, wasn’t the carpet around the desk originally blue during rehearsals? The orange looked better IMO, comes off as changing things for the sake of changing them.

Yes it was. Personally, I don’t mind the blue carpet. It’s the change of lighting on the desk that I think looks the poorest.

It seems somebody is indeed bigger than the show:

The bosses should have stood up to Piers and simply said no, the man’s ego is absolutely enormous. Susanna seems to be genuinely irritated with Piers these days (although admittedly it’s hard to know when Susanna is playing up to the cameras). I don’t think it’ll be all that long until Piers pushes things just too far (probably on a convoluted feminism or transgender debate).

Piers Morgan seems to have total control over GMB. What he says goes, and he has become the Johnny Carson style of UK breakfast television. He says he doesn't like someone, they are banished from the program. Pathetic.

ITV seems to be so keen to keep that pig on the show, to maintain their 600,000-700,000 daily viewers, terrified that they will plummet to the 300,000 mark if he left.

My opinion, remember that, just my opinion, before any backlash comes here. But Piers does have the best contract with ITV, just because he has the mouth like a sewer, the ego of Madonna and the arrogance of Thatcher.

Why would they want Les Dennis on the show anyway? It's at least 15 years since he's been relevant.

He's still busy working and has stuff to promote so he's still a relevant person to interview. He's a well known name that the audience will know.

I notice he's recently recorded an episode of Richard Herrings podcast which I reckon will be worth a listen

I think you’ll find it happens more than you think. Many newsrooms won’t have guests on output if guests start to dictate who will interview them and other terms - possibly even affecting editorial content.

Piers is just pointing that out !

It just seems like such a risky and short-term strategy for a programme to put so much store in one rather volatile presenter. Where’s the plan B for if he oversteps the mark and has to leave, or flounces out because he thinks he’s better than the show? Both scenarios have to be a reasonable possibility.

Forgive me for mixing my metaphors but it seems like they’re putting all their eggs in one loose cannon. Wink

Plan B is another presenter, it’s not that hard. Of course he’s a risk, but it’s working for them. What’s their alternative?

Alistar Stewart, Richard Madeley or Ealmon Holmes but they might not replace Piers at all if he left
