The whole start of the sequence could do with some with some refinement. Black screen, then suddenly all white, then a lovely big ITV logo in sunrise orange and yellow... then one teal circle, followed by quick-jumping video and vertical stripes... all a bit of a mish-mash really.

There's very little flow between any of the elements, which is a shame because it doesn't really do the music justice.

Surely a version of the ECP in reverse, without the credits squeeze would be best?

The layers with the ITV GMB coloured logo ‘peeling back’ to reveal the headline flash.

It's only in that style to ape the NBC's Today, isn't it (for some reason)?

The headline sequence has all the OTT hallmarks of US shows, lots of different transitions within each headline for no real reason, though there is also a GMB trademark transition within each headline too. All a bit confused, and feels very in-your-face. "Just because you can..."

Has anyone else in STV Land noticed this?

Have they given up on the morning bulletins again? Over the last few weeks they've been absolutely chronic. I know they are roughly 2 minutes or so, but the production of them is actually cringe worthy to watch.

This morning we had Haley Bouma from STV North on the bulletins, and it was like watching a rabbit in the headlights. Even coming back from the local weather, there wasn't even as much as 'We'll be back in hour with more news' it was just a straight 'Goodbye' which was cut off at the end most likely cause they were overrunning.

Do they even bother to record one for North now too? It’s all so amateur to be honest!

Why does GMB bother with local news opt outs now in 2019? They obviously don't care about them. How many local opt outs for news are there from 6.00am-8.30am?

I think they’re down to 1 an hour by this point.

Central is live and North is recorded still as it's always been. But the bulletins are becoming a bit of a joke now.

If they can't be bothered they should give it up. Am I right in saying STV lost it last time to Macmillan Media when the local contract came up for renewal?

There are at 6.10, 7.10 and 8.10am on Thursdays, Fridays and holidays shows, 6.25, 7.15 and 8.15am on Piers's shows.

I find the regional new important in the mornings due to the localised weather reports and travel reports. But their current inconsistency makes them pointless.

If they could find a way in regionalising the ticker to include regional news, travel and weather then that would be a great alternative. Would save the need for a presenter that time of the morning, but then that could shave off nearly 45 minutes a week which could cause ITV to breach their quota of regional news.

I’ve seen some local affiliates in the US do just that, on the network morning shows
