With TODAY, Savannah and Hoda are the show, so they're names are kept in on every single weekday edition, regardless of presenter. Same with weekend TODAY. However, if like Matt, one of them was booted from the show, they'd have the normal voiceover with no names whatsoever until a new permanent presenter was appointed.

With the third hour, this IS a perfect example. They'll add names to the open when permanent presenters are chosen

Really like the “On A Knife Edge” graphics being used today.

This talk of voiceovers on US shows is really boring.

GMB was brilliant today. Piers clearly in his element chairing a grown-up knife crime debate. Can’t imagine how much different it would have been if they’d run with it on a Shephard and Garraway day.

They removed the riser and main desk this morning to interview Michael Parkinson. It seemed like a lot of effort for a 5 minute slot at the end of the show. There seems to be a lot of doing things just because they can with GMB, although it does show the versatility of the set.

They did it to mimic the Parkinson set.

Far better to do things because they can rather than to not bother, and I don't suppose it was any effort to wheel the riser out the way at the end of the programme.

Pretty dismal treatment of the Iceland MD today - all the more uncomfortable considering ITV's interest in Clearcast, which I believe should have been flagged at the start of the interview.

Goodness - I couldn’t imagine ex-Sky News and BBC News 24 news presenter Kate Garraway being able to manage a debate/guests

Especially compared to Piers Morgan who did such a good job on CNN with his gun debates which didn’t at all descend into shoutfests (often mostly from him).

I really don’t understand the eulogisation of Morgan and here and the way some on here treat Garraway like she’s never presented news in her life. It’s honestly a bit insulting to Garraway.

Probably to do with the fact that in recent years Garraway has been associated with the fluffier elements of breakfast television, in addition to her playing music on Smooth FM.

While I think there has been some instances when Ben & Kate have across a lighter touch, I think that’s because they do Friday’s and I don’t think producers want such a heavy style on Friday. Lots of show do lighter items on Friday, it’s often when Lorraine, This Morning, Jeremy Vine on 5 will all things like showbiz, tv picks etc. And let’s be clear Kate has done News before, there is an association of her been a little lightweight but that’s more down to the shows previously, GMTV went through phases including a really tabloid style era. But Piers and Susanna work well on the programme together. Piers has real strengths and I think I enjoy GMB because the presenters all have individual personalities and being something different. Piers can overstep the mark on a few things, ITV aren’t to concerned (as long as he doesn’t land them in breach) because it generates headlines. But personally I do sometimes look an think on certain topics someone else would have handled it better. This isn’t unique to GMB, but simply shouting over people doesn’t make you a good journalist.

I do think the show does tend to take a more lighter approach when Piers is away or it's a slow news day. Even Susanna tends to more relaxed on Thursdays.

Generally because the gun lobby are morons - even when sat next to Piers.

We've been here before when Piers himself criticised the fluffy format during the summer when he and Susanna were away.
