As you well know, US breakfast shows don't work like that, so Hoda's name would never be first. Savannah is longer as main Today co-host than Hoda. Just like when Bryant left, it was Katie and Matt, when Katie left it was Matt and Meredith/Ann/Savanna, when Matt was fired, it was Savannah and Hoda.

Quick aside but do they do the same as the evening newscasts and always announce the two regular hosts regardless of who is presenting.



Well for NBC Nightly News the voiceover is changed if there’s a fill-in but the title card text “with Lester Holt” is just removed, and not replaced with the fill-in’s name.

Occasionally on the weekend when there’s BIG news and Lester’s in they’ll use his open. On weekends when Jose Diaz-Balart is out and and Kate Snow is they’ll play out her open. There’s also a generic open.

Personally, I think that something like this (without the name) would be better if the main anchor isn't in:

Nightly News used to have the announcer actually say the cover presenter in the titles. I remember it saying “NBC NN with Brian Williams, reporting tonight Savannah Guthrie”

^ In the above video I believe the reason the presenter is namechecked is as it was during Williams' suspension from NBC after he was found to have lied repeatedly about some of his work in the field. Subsequently he's not named at all.

I also like the inclusion of the stock footage of a phone with a green screen during that headline sequence.

Pre-Brian's departure, they did announcr stand-in's, during his suspension they did as abovr, abd post suspension they did not.
