Shouldn’t Susanna’s name be read out first, given that she’s the senior presenter? Or is there a reason why the male presenter’s name is read out first?

If Richard is left of frame and Susanna is right of frame, you'd normally read Richard's name first as you 'see' left to right. (Because we read left to right)

That's a long standing TV convention - less important when you have people of different genders, but very usual when you are introducing people of the same gender without taking close-ups.

The issue was that when she presented with Adil, her name was read out first, but when presenting with Richard, her name was second. The same today with Kate's name said second. Not in the grand scheme of things should it matter, but it's a curious one. I'd go down the Today route where whoever is the longest has their name first and that doesn't change until they leave.

Savannahs been at NBC for longer, but technically Hoda has been with TODAY for longer than her

As you well know, US breakfast shows don't work like that, so Hoda's name would never be first. Savannah is longer as main Today co-host than Hoda. Just like when Bryant left, it was Katie and Matt, when Katie left it was Matt and Meredith/Ann/Savanna, when Matt was fired, it was Savannah and Hoda.

Seriously. Who gives a crap about who’s name comes first? I enjoy reading this forum to read about news, technical stuff and behind the scenes. There are some real anoraks on here who list last time someone appeared 4 days a week and now bothering to discuss whose name goes first?
I’m not being a troll but probably expressing what many readers here also think

I think some of the people in this thread are forgetting that Richard Madeley is a morning TV veteran, so his name being read out first is to be expected, and the chances of him making a career ending gaffe are next to nil.

Isn't it usually whoever has the opening headline?

Are we talking about the same Richard Madeley, the one-man gaffe factory?

He's made that many gaffes that weren't career ending, I think the man's practically bulletproof.

Which is precisely my point.

I do have to laugh at some on here being shocked at Richard Madeley being shocked at making gaffes.

Madeley is basically known for being a real life Alan Partridge and Piers Morgan has said some far more outrageous, offensive things without any kickback on here. His comments on mental health for example were clearly intended to be controversial and get attention but go beyond just being controversial. But apparently ‘Piers will be Piers and gets eyeballs’ so he can say whatever the hell he wants without reproach.

Quick aside but do they do the same as the evening newscasts and always announce the two regular hosts regardless of who is presenting.
