Seems like another version of the Entertainment Bed mixed with the 2014 theme!

Strange brief reappearance of the Election 2017 branding this morning...

It wasn't visible on the wide shot of the studio coming out of the break a few seconds earlier. Perhaps they'd intended to have a photo of Liz Dawn on the screen for the tribute but put up the wrong image.

People: complain about over-formatted TV and radio.
Also people: complain when a show goes off-script and away from the programme clock.

Different people always.

Those who complain about over-formatted TV & radio are not the same ones that complain about shows going off-script and timings going awry.

As I have discovered through my radio work, there are two types of listener/viewer out there. Those who say "I never quite know what's coming up next and I love that." and those that say "I never quite know what's coming up next, and I hate that." Those who like the rigid format and structure hate it when that structure changes or even merely when a show allows for some flexibility, they just completely dislike that. Those who like that flexibility and appreciate a more freeform show, don't like rigid structure in their media.

Although you can’t conclude there are two types of listeners, when you’re basing that on two listeners.

The chances of both GMB viewers watching at the same time is highly unlikely though, surely?

Should've been the theme for 'GMB Today' during the summer

Depends on whether those 2 viewers are regular viewers.

If GMB's 2 viewers are regular viewers, then I'd say the chances of them both watching at the same is very likely.

If they're not regular viewers, then GMB may only have one viewer at any one time, or none!

I don't think that was the intention, just an accident. I noticed during the section from the desk before they moved to the sofa that one of the screens was displaying a summer backdrop, only to notice the Election 2017 during Richards slot.

Local opt out at 7.26 this morning to allow for an interview with the chancellor who presumably had another interview at 7.30

I thought the coverage of the events in Las Vegas by GMB was generally pretty good. However, the decision to go ahead with the live interview with Maria Carey was absolutely terrible. The moment they crossed over to her it became clear it was a massive mistake; we initially saw Carey with a huge beaming smile laying across a sofa sat in front of a bloody Christmas tree. The moment she was told the news she went absolutely pale, what an awful position to be put in.

The solution was pretty simple - record the interview after the show and air it tomorrow or put her on Lorraine instead. Failing that, they should have gone to a break and just focused on what she was there to promote. They tried to cross over the two and it definitely didn’t come off well. I’d say it was certainly an error of judgement.

Lots of mistakes today. The Mariah interview was obviously a terrible decision considering the news that had come in.

More so the start of the show considering the major Monarch story breaking overnight which has affected a lot of people, they spent 5 minutes waffling about Strictly Come Dancing and what some gossip magazines have to say about Piers and Susanna.

They covered it well during the morning with Simon Calder, but they really need to spend less time waffling at the start of the show, especially if there's major stories that have broken overnight.

little point in the local opts, too short. Probably why they get bumped around now
