Maybe all this reaction has appeared to come as a bit of a shock because Piers has been missing off the screens for many weeks.

I do firmly believe that GMB aren't getting these guests on to make light of their controversial views, it's mainly just getting a controversial guest on so Piers can react outraged by it.

Indeed the guest today they only got on to react to the topic of having controversial guests on their own show and to have a bit of a tussle with Piers which is exactly what happened.

During a report on the storms in the US, they had a live feed in the bottom right hand corner of the screen in line with the strap. You could see what they were trying to do, but it was a little pointless because you couldn't make out what they were showing.

It also looks like the backdrop in the studio has changed to the winter one.

Coming back from the 7:28 break, new V/O "It's Good Morning Britain competition time, with Andi Peters" - throwing straight to Andi with the competition.

I can't think why they would do this. It just sounded odd and out of place. Do you think it's because Piers and Susanna might feel that it cheapens their news anchors stature?

Or it gives them those extra vital few mins for a break and research for next interview....

Did anyone record GMB/Lorraine today? At the end of Lorraine GMB came back with the breaking news about the London tube incident. It was for less than 3 minutes and with no visual , just Ben and Kate talking. They started to talk to someone about the incident and then cut him off after only a few seconds. I thought it was very poor. If anyone captured it please could you post on here.

It was very poorly done. Would have been better if it was Charlotte alone (if she was still there) just talking through events. No time for interviews etc...

I don't understand why they'd have gone to that interview in the first place if they'd known they'd only have a 3 minute slot. It's as if they were expecting to be told that they'd be staying on over JK but then realised they weren't half way into the interview.

I would presume the reason for no visuals would be that the crews may have left and Ben and Kate in informal dress. Also presumably Charlotte was off at Strictly. If they'd know how big this was I'm sure they'd have been kept on air.

Also it may have been that ITV News wasn't ready to do anything

That does look rather untidy. I think ITV's decision not to break into Lorraine could be justified for the reasons I've given on that thread - it's not another 7/7 and the story broke some way into Lorraine, when the details weren't all clear. But coming back on air with a bulletin that felt like it was in the style of a rolling news show rather than a summary of what had happened displayed a lack of confidence in their decision.
