Another new look for Lorraine then by the sound of it.

Lorraine getting a new set. Again. Doesn't make sense if they're leaving TLS next year.

Not really, it's still a fair bit off and even so, they will probably move the set anyway.

Not keen on the new logo, obviously done in house.

Hopefully Lorraine will have a proper agency designing the new look this time. Logo has been poor for some time now.

Lovely logo. Disappointed not to see any live music booked.

Hadn't thought about this but you're right it would work well, it is a shame.

If you look at American breakfast shows they always have music performances. Especially from British artists. I personally think it would bring in more viewers if they had promos during the daytime to say for example Dua Lipa will be performing her new single LIVE or The Vamps, Arcade Fire, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles. Plenty of choices out there.

The logo looks a bit American influenced to me.

From what I saw this morning, Richard seemed very much at home.

I have to say that the programme feels really confident at the moment, not afraid to experiment with guest presenters or spin-off formats. Daybreak never felt so self-assured.

I imagined a solid GMB 'plectrum' replacing the O in TODAY...apologies for making that a mock albeit in word form... certainly looks American influenced. I'm thinking the main screen behind the desk will feature the logo to make it look obviously different, unless of course the desk area isn't used at all and it's all sofa based?

Think they've been looking at pip2's work?

I don't think music does particularly well in ratings terms in the UK. (One reason why it is almost always at the end of shows is that it is better for ratings to lose them at the end of a show than earlier...)

Plus US morning shows have higher budgets that allow for sound checksa and rehearsals for bands whilst the main gallery is on-air. (Rather than having to do them during regional opts as Breakfast used to...)

They generate some buzz, and can have a 'halo effect' - and for the US shows they add some energy to their final segments - but they are seldom ratings gold.

Instead of bringing in 'big names' who are unlikely to want to stay, why not try to give those from the ITV regions/ITV News a chance to host? There seems to be a real gap in talent within ITV at the moment. The BBC are excellent at promoting from within - Tina Daheley hosting Breakfast this morning is a good example. Daheley has slowly worked her way up gaining experience, and would make an excellent main host of Breakfast in the future. In my opinion, ITV should be letting the likes of Kylie Pentalow and Lucrezia Millirani gain more experience. Maybe then they wouldn't have to rely on bringing in people who (with all due respect) have had already achieved excellent careers, and are now moving towards retirement.

Yeah I agree about actually creating stars. ITV took Matt Barbet but ditched him after 18 months. And he was great. Would have done very well with GMB I think. I think ITV are lacking more male talent rather than female.
