Well it was just a thought. As her ratings are higher that GMB they may want to incorporate her into GMB.. Doing that may increase GMB ratings and reduce the number of sets at wherever ITV is going to be next year.

Because it worked so well the last time they tried tried that - Daybreak Mark II.

I think he means in the same way they did 'GMTV with Lorraine' rather than her present the main Good Morning Britain programme we know and love today.

I think Jason2016 has failed to understand Lorraines slot has been around in its current format for 20 years. Where has the time gone???

But she's not going to be wanting to keep going forever. She's 57, she's been on breakfast television in the UK for 33 years, more than half her life. Semi-retirement or even full-on retirement may soon be on the cards for her, so, it kinda makes sense to plan out a version of Good Morning Britain that does go onto 9:30am, and use her holiday time to give it a test run.

Yes I imagine that's exactly what they are doing. They are extending GMB for two weeks in the middle of August as a trial to see if it would work all year round in 15 years time when Lorraine retires...

So certain are you...

Her retirement or semi-retirement could be next year for all any of us actually know.

Seriously, how many other people have been successfully hosting TV shows since 1984???

The answer is somewhere between 0 and not many. Most people are lucky to have careers lasting 10 years or more.

OK - so it's news based, but here's a trio still kicking around -
John Humphries was presenting network news bulliies around then - and still is doing Today on Radio Four and Mastermind for BBC Two.
Bob Warman over at Central News, and Fred Dineage on Meridian...

And of course, Angela Rippon is still doing the odd Watchdog spin-off series every now and then.

Lorraine only just signed a new contract with ITV, worth around £2.1 million according to one of the tabloids (could have been The Sun).

The suggestion that she may want to retire seems to have come from no actual evidence whatsoever.

As I said, not many. And most who were around in 1984 on TV, aren't now.

Whilst I would prefer it if Lorraine had a new show in a different slot to allow GMB to be extended, I can't see her retiring or having her show moved anytime soon. I think it is a case of she is happy to keep going, so she will.

Yeah, if they were going to force her out, it would have happened when GMTV was axed. She's got that slot as long as she wants it. It gets decent enough ratings for the timeslot.

I expect it is more as a way to help out with holiday cover on Lorraine's show, not needing cover on there as well as GMB both in front of the camera and behind.

And yes this forum criticises why Alastair Stewart doesn't do the news every day and why he doesn't stay up all night for elections anymore, but wants to pension off Lorraine. Has she ever given the suggestion she wants to bow out, she's just a as bright and breezy as she was on LK Today 15 years ago.

A bit harsh to say Good Morning Britain won't be around in 15 years. It has lasted 3 years and seems to be going from strength to strength.

It would be good to be on till 09:25 each day but Lorraine Kelly is one of the UK's best loved presenters and there is no reason at all why she should not continue presenting; in her current slot for many more years. As long as she wants to and there is no reason to suggest she doesn't want to.

What GMB can do is extend the programme when Lorraine is on holiday rather than have guests standing in which is what they are doing later this month.

Another option would be the replace Jeremy Kyle with Lorraine and have her on from 09:25-10:30. That way we get the best of everything.

I think it's pretty fair to say that GMB won't be on air in 2032. I don't think television as we know it will exist in 2032!

Personally think they should extend GMB until 9:30 through the summer season
