I'm not surprised that politicians and some celebs give GMB a wide berth. Piers style is ambush.

I don't think his continued presence will be worth the very modest increase in ratings in the long run. It's not really GMB in the headlines, it's Piers being Piers.

I do think that Susanna has been diminished by his presence. I wonder what it's like off screen and if it's anything like Eamonn & Anthea. This video says it all.

I'd like to see her pair up with Eamonn, see how that works.

Politicians give it a wide berth because they know for a fact they are going to get backed into a corner they can't get out of. We have all these posturing politicians answering questions with more questions and not giving simple yes or no answers.

I for one, think it makes the programme. Where else do politicians or celebs get tough questioning? They could go up to Salford and get the light and fluffy interview from Breakfast.

I know which one I would rather watch in the morning...

I couldn't agree more, in these weird times politically, people want straight answers from politicians and for the media to hold them to their word while asking the questions that people want to know. GMB offers just that which certainly has me gripped in the morning.

If the politicans are not coming on the show they are not being held to account. Hard hitting does not need to be sensationalist, self-indulgent grandstanding.

By no means would I say Good Morning Britain is renowned for hard-hitting interviews and Breakfast is know for fluff! Just the other week a video from Breakfast was doing the rounds on Twitter as Charlie Stayt gave Sajid Javid a hard time. Interviews from GMB do seem to get a fair amount of attention on social media, but that generally seems to be because of Piers Morgan and his self-righteous interview style.

I'm pretty sure Susanna is actually friendly with Piers outside of the program. They've both mentioned going out on nights out together. Susanna knows the love/hate thing is doing well for the ratings, so plays up to it.

It's hard to tell whether Eamonn would do anything for the ratings; he's only ever hosted in half terms when ratings are lower.

I'd personally like to see Piers/Susanna and Eamonn/Charlotte with Pip Thompson/Louisa James newsreading.

And going back to Piers' style being 'ambush.' Good! That makes it all the more interesting if a guest slips up and says something they're not supposed to say...

Indeed and he is both quick to catch the moment they cock up and continue to ask the question they usually dread him asking or refuse to answer. We still all forget that we pay these people to do the best for us and do it honestl, something they might care to remember and which is not lost on a Piers

I actually prefer Piers' brash style, especially certain slimy politicians.

I couldn't agree more, he absolutely tore Michael Gove apart early last week. Weird thing was with this interview is that I turned it on at 6.50am, and it was still ongoing after 7am, to which there was no rush to go into TOTH mode like they usually do. I get the feeling that GMB know that if it's a worthy interview it's not worth rushing anything that can wait as such.

As much as I like Kate and Ben, certainly when they present GMB, it feels more like GMTV, to the point where I cringe or not bother watching. Piers is a marmite figure but what it is that he is doing is working for GMB and ITV.

I have noticed recently they've seemingly accepted they always run over and you now get about 2 interviews per hour which are incredibly indepth. It's a few times now they've run over the TOTH aswell and just started the hour with the break bumper then the voice of god.

I agree wholeheartedly. They're a good presenting duo on paper but when they're effectively being put against Piers and Susanna they are under par unfortunately. It's worth remembering though that Kate can do serious news and as seen this morning (when presenting alongside Susanna) is prepared to go into the difficult questions and push in the interviews.

A circa 15% share to a circa 20% is hardly a modest increase in the context of the last few years.

A different scenario and different genre but the same kind of thing happened on The Big Breakfast during Johnny Vaughan's reign. It always used to be that interviews, or indeed any segments, wouldn't go on more than 5 minutes but it became clear that they needed room to breathe and over time they got longer, up to 13 minutes or so.

GMB now clearly adapting in a similar way - and actually it's not Piers who is a politicians worst nightmare - it's giving politicians the time to trip themselves up. A 4-5 minute interview can be negotiated relatively easily compared to a 15 minute affair where you're actually given time to answer the tricky questions.

This Morning at 7:42 the old 'Live' Graphic and name tag appeared from the old graphic package - don't know if anyone noticed?
