Did you edit out the break or when Lorraine said "coming up after the break" there wasn't actually a break?

Odd to see a silent Piers for the duration of that link.

They have to replace him with a cardboard cut out when they want him to shut up, or so I've heard.

I know. It all went so quick and Piers didn't even have a chance to say anything! Like others say, it would be good if they could do a proper closing with the current theme music instead of a straight forward goodbye and cut to Lorraine.

If you look at Lorraine's clock is at 8.35 so I'd presume there was a break

I'm sure then that's breaking some Ofcom rule about lengths of a part, they should be a minimum length I believe.
