It's odd, GMB is a brand. ITV could have easily ran GMB at 8.25 on Sunday, it is their brand for news in the morning. I don't know if STV would have cared.
I'm not sure how the breakfast franchise is handled in the U.K. but if ITV wanted could they have ran GMB in place of the ITV News special on Sunday? The whole separate franchise thing seems redundant in this day and age when ITV plc covers the entire country save for STV.

With all these horrific news events happening and ITV on weekends not being there to cover them in the morning it would be nice if they considered running GMB seven days a week. Surely it would benefit the programme by building itself a weekend audience and also more credibility. After all news happens seven days a week and not five.

Even back in the day TVAM never run seven days aweek, six at the most, GMTV was also five days away with Diggit getting the 8am slot on Sundays. The closet it got was was Sunday best but that got cut right back with a few months and its replacements The Sunday programme was all started at 7am. Even now CITV has filled that slot in the mornings.

There is no chance of GMB running at weekends, it's just not financially viable. 'Weekend' gets around 150,000 viewers on Saturday and Sundays. Producing a show like GMB is a big operation, and it just wouldn't be worth it. You'd have to employ an additional crew just for weekends, as the regular crew can't work 7 days a week.

Between 0600 and 0925 STV would have no right to object. Technically the ITN special was being broadcast by ITV Breakfast which produces GMB.

I can see why they don't do it, but it would be nice to see GMB Monday-Sunday. Perhaps the weekend editions of the programme could start at 07:00 and run until 10:00 and maybe have a more relaxed feel then on weekdays, with more relaxed interviews and 'fun' features, perhaps getting involved in the community (a little like they did when GMB started with the Wheel of Cash (I wasn't really a fan of the Wheel of Cash) but perhaps similar sorts of features.
Obviously this isn't taking into account the cost of putting this type of show on - probably why they show 'Weekend' instead. There are other networks which do it around the world such as Sunrise on Weekdays and Weekend Sunrise over the weekend in Australia and of course the BBC also do it with Breakfast. In reality though, it'll never happen and viewers would probably rather watch other programmes over a weekend version of GMB.

Would I be right in assuming tomorrow we will see Ben, Kate and either Sean or Richard presenting. As the others are presenting Friday and the official no political stories as it is Election Day?
NA
Yes, Ben, Kate and Sean tomorrow according to the Radio Times. Piers, Susanna, Charlotte and Kate on Friday.

Thanks for the confirmation. I expected something like that as it will be a big morning on Friday and slightly longer show.
