Elstree Studios is too far away for ITV to house GMB, 16 miles North of central London. The BBC already have secured access to Stages 8 and 9, but yes there is smaller stages available that GMB could use if ITV took this decision.

Only two stages remain at Elstree which could be used by ITV. Stage 6 at 3,844 Sq Ft or Stage 7 at 4,980 Sq Ft. The rest are either used by BBC through BBC Studioworks or aren't viable for the small productions of ITV.

I don;t know if there is room at ITN at Grays Inn Road. I thought their studio facilities are all being used by ITV News, Channel 4 News and 5 News.

I suspect that for a the reasons mentioned they'll end up hiring some existing office space or similar and build what they need rather than hiring and making do with an existing facility.

Then they can have exactly what they require with offices and production facilities in the same place. Plus it doesn't fill up hireable space that will be needed for their shows that have to find new homes too. Probably cheaper if they're going to use them for 3-4 years.

There's plenty of new of rebuilt office space around and there's no reason why This Morning can't have a window if need be. Somewhere out east would be reasonably cheap.

Though Loose Women, which is a more traditional show and has an its audience would almost certainly come from somewhere like TC2

Would it not be best for ITV News and Five News to swap studios in ITNs basement so ITV ends up with the larger studio where a set can built for GMB which could also be utilised by ITV News bulletins?

Fascinating that the top page of that pile has "Seating plan" written on it which suggests they plan where each presenter sits? Just a speculation. If only they were selling them Smile

It could be a seating plan for studio guests.

By the way, just incase anyone missed it - there was some graphical issues in the 6am TOTH on Friday as no graphics or normal wipes appeared and the titles played without the date.

I don't know why but there have been a lot of technical problems in the TOTH this year compared to last year when hardly any problems affected the TOTH whatsoever.

I haven't noticed any significant fluctuation in the number of technical cock-ups. Also, it is the first major issue I have seen since the launch of the new graphics, nearly 2 months ago. If anything, I reckon the number has dropped.

Well just to correct you there, there was actually another technical issue pretty similar to this one back in March as you can see in this video:

Oh aye, I'm sure he starts writing a tweet at 5:59 and forgets to roll the opener...

Any abuse on Twitter directed specifically at this thread is well justified. It's all well and good noting changes and faults, but there is far too many over analysing of why things happen the way they do, to the point where the theory is more messed up than the thing the OP is actually questioning.

iloveyorkshire - Is there any big difference in the sizes of Studios 1 and 2 at ITN?
