Didn't one of the football shows come from the GMTV studio? I remember seeing this on the old GMTV webcam.

Yes, at one point Al Jazeera's football show came from the same studio.

Is This Morning actually affected by all this?

Yes. Their current studios, including This Morning's, are on the site that ITV are moving out of for a number of years (to allow it to be redeveloped).

ITV are closing their large studio operation (aka The London Studios or TLS) on that site permanently, but have said they will retain a small studio operation for their ITV Daytime shows (GMB, Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women)

So if I'm understanding correctly, the main ITV tower is going, plus the separate site that This Morning broadcasts from?

I expect the entire site will be flattened and rebuilt from the ground up. 'This Morning's' studio floor is studio 8 which is located in Princes Wharf on the north east corner of the site. ITV do not own that building even though to all intents and purposes it appears to reside within the overall site's boundaries. Princes Wharf is owned by Coin Street Community Builders but no doubt ITV will be working closely with them on the overall plan. The part of the site known as the 'Youngers building' - the mock Tudor building fronting Upper Ground, is owned by ITV.

Interesting to see some positive press on ITV's breakfast time ratings, albeit from the tabloids. I am expecting someone to reply to this with a post explaining how wrong they are, but the point is that it's surprising to see positive headlines when for the past several years it's been about how bad they are (we know how the British press love to tear people down). A long cry from Daybroke.

The words "positive" and "tabloids" do not belong in the same sentence.

Indeed, a real switch around.

Yes the ratings they quote are probably flawed but when they were running negative stories the ratings used were equally flawed (using bank holiday ratings versus the biggest rating ever that sort of thing) so it all evens out.

To clarify - BBC Television Centre is now just Television Centre - check their website and you will see the BBC name is gone for ever - https://televisioncentre.com/

As Steve in Pudsey says, it's still *BBC* Television Centre as far as most people are concerned. Smile

I'll bet the "London Museum of Water and Steam" is still the Kew Bridge Steam Museum in many people's eyes, too. It certainly is in mine, anyway. (Yes, it's not a TV building, although it *was* where the awful 1991-95 TOTP title sequence was filmed...)

BBC Studios is the term used to mean Studios 1, 2 and 3 which remain and will be operated by their commercial arm BBC Studioworks.

If that's the case then what's the term used to mean their studios in Salford and Glasgow? Confused

1st September 2017, Studios 1, 2 and 3 will reopen and be operated by BBC Studioworks, their commercial arm.

*One of* their commercial arms. Another one started life as BBC Enterprises. Wink

I don't mean to insult you here, BTW - I'm just trying to make some clarifications of my own. Smile Wink

No, 'BBC Studios' is a production company which makes TV programmes. Nothing to do with actual studios, though I believe they operate one in BH

They don't have any studios in Salford, all the multi purpose production studios there arebowned/run by Peel

I'm not sure the ones in Glasgow were ever part of the commercial arm now known as BBC Studioworks (was BBC Studios and Post Production)

As well as the 3 in TV Centre they also run the studio (D?) at BBC Elstree and a couple at Elstree Studios (which I think they are keeping even after TVC reopens), and manage the studios in Bristol once used by Deal or No Deal

No sorry, you are not understanding me, I know BBC Studioworks owns and operates the studios at Television Centre and Elstree. I just mean people will call them and do call them BBC studios, they are owned and operated by the BBC under their commercial arm BBC Studioworks. Trying to clarify that these studios are not owned by any other than the BBC. Hope I got my point across.

The studios in Glasgow are owned and operated by BBC Scotland and not BBC Studioworks, in the same way BBC Studio A in Blackstaff House in Belfast is run by BBC Northern Ireland.

In Elstree - BBC Studioworks only own fully Studios D, E, Holby City studios and of course Eastenders studios. They are in partnership with the Elstree Film Studios business, who share responsibility of Stages 8 and 9 at Elstree which are medium sized 7,550 Sq Ft each studios, as well as partnering together to provide George Lucas Stage 2 for Strictly Come Dancing etc. BBC Studioworks do not own Stages 8, 9 or George Lucas Stage 2.

Television Centre studios will be Studio 1 (10,800 Sq Ft), Studio 2 (3,430 Sq Ft) and Studio 3 (8,000 Sq Ft) - all due to be open and running from 1st September 2017.

Strictly Come Dancing interestingly have decided not to move back to Television Centre's Studio 1 this autumn. Production team much prefer the larger George Lucas Stage 2 at over 15,500 Sq Ft and also like the wealth of dressing rooms, green rooms etc at Elstree. They would be much limited at the now reduced Television Centre studios. This means Studio 1 will be available to large scale entertainment shows this autumn, not just for the BBC, but for ITV and others etc.

With regard to the name "BBC Television Centre" - this is not me wanting to tear the name BBC off of it. The owners have now referred to it as simply "Television Centre". The BBC gave up the right to have their name on it when they made the mistake of selling the complex in the first place.

Though they can, and probably will, put their logo on the bit of the building they're leasing back. Presumably in the place it's always been so it will literally say 'BBC Television Centre'

Indeed, it hasn't stopped both BBC and ITV doing this at Salford, alongside the MediaCity branding.

I don't know if the filing documents have been filed with the council but does anyone have a site plan PDF of the current boundary lines?
