I suppose their options are:
> Hire four small studios across London in different locations
> Hire one larger studio capable of fitting GMB and Lorraine sets together, with a quick turnaround for Loose Women, with This Morning from another location
> Hire an expensive block of office space capable of temporaily being adapted for GMB, Lorraine and This Morning, with Loose Women from another location.

Whatever the decisions, they'd need to have studio space, scene docks, galleries, booths, etc. production offices, news gathering offices, competition office, dressing rooms, make up and wardrobe. I'd imagine that using studios already in place would be cheaper, though production offices may be located away from the studio space.

I suppose an alternative to the options above would be to see if they could relocate if there are any small studio facilities that are due to closed down at a similar time.

Fountain Studios are empty of equipment but not being demolished in the near future so maybe they'll end up there.

Would be odd if ITV moved in there as LWT moved out of those studios when the South Bank ones opened!

It's going to be a massive operation for ITV when they move location temporarily. Anyone know when this will be happening? We might see a new set too after completion.

At most it would be three studios as Lorraine and Loose Women already share the same space. I could see GMB and This Morning potentially sharing the same studio given that there's a two hour window to strike the set which is probably about the same amount of time between the Lorraine pre-recorded ep and Loose Women.

Amusing that there's discussion of "STV-baiting" on the day when GMB begun with an explicit admission that the watercooler show of the moment was a BBC one!

The move away from London Studios is surely going to be a tricky one, but you'd presume they already have some kind of plan for it? Otherwise would they have signed off on the redevelopment of London Studios in the first place?!?

I guess they'll have to change the opening titles too as the programme won't be coming from ITV studios.

If they build their own temporary studios - or buy out someone elses - there would be no issue calling the new location 'ITV Studios'.

It's not like 'BBC Television Centre' which is a building.

If they'd said 'Live from the ITV Television Centre' (which was the official building name - at least at one point), 'Live from The London Studios' (which is the operating name for the studios) or 'Live from ITV's studios on the South Bank' it would be different.

You may be right - they may decide to keep 'ITV Studios' to refer to the South Bank operation, but given that most of that will be closing (they will only be making the daytime stuff there when they move back, the prestigious shows will no longer have studios on that site) the glamour may have gone anyway.

Ironically, the BBC will be able to say 'Live - from Television Centre' again relatively soon...

I'm a bit confused as to what's going on. Correct me if I'm wrong but ITV is essentially demolishing the studios and stripping the tower to its core. When the projects all said and done their morning line up will have studios but nothing else available for outside product.

As I understand it the entire building is being demolished and a bigger building replacing it. This will have small studios for their daytime programmes but the big hireable production studios won't be replaced.

They've not applied for planning permission yet so exactly what they are planning isn't publicly known

Is This Morning actually affected by all this?

Anyone else notice that after the Nick Clegg interview, they used one of the old break bumpers and cut to the break incredibly quickly.
