Great behind the scenes of the studio posted on Twitter today. I always thought that behind the sofa were 3 massive screens but they look like lightboxes here?
Looks like they'e done a Daybreak and printed a cap of the video whilst the big screens were relocated to the new studio.
That would clear it up, thank you. I guess that area isn't used too much anymore so people aren't as likely to notice that its an image. We can probably put the disappearance of the weather screen down to that too then.
Interesting that they're taking some of the old screens over to the new set. If I recall correctly, the screens behind the sofa came from the Daybreak Version 2 set but the ones from the performance area came all the way back from Daybreak Version 1 and were part of the original weather screen before being used again in Daybreak Version 2 and then GMB. If so, those smaller screens have had a pretty good innings and must be in good shape to be used again after 8 years of use.
The screens being replaced in the sofa area isn’t that noticeable, but the performance area certainly looks far poorer. I imagine they’ll stop using it now, the wide shots have been tighter since they replaced the screens. I’m guessing that the screens making up the main ‘window’ will eventually be replaced as well. Didn’t the largest of the screens by the desk area come from Daybreak, or am I misremembering?
With the direction that the show has gone in, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a much larger main desk, a smaller news desk and a smaller sofa in the new studio.
This is promising considering Camille Connolly worked on the previous GMB Set design and worked on NBC Today's set in the United States-

I might be wrong, but I think the big screen behind the desk was Laura's weather screen from 2012 to 2014.
I can see a desk like used on CBS This Morning working - something which is easy to set up a debate around compared to the awkward angle they have to sit at now.
