Actually, you are factually wrong here. It IS illegal, unless the role has genuinely ceased to exist. The role has NOT ceased to exist, therefore, it would be illegal to fire Laura and replace her with Alex.

Let's clear this up. The government site says:



Laura has the legal right to her job and Alex, I agree has improved. Itll be interesting to see what is decided. Laura did used to do 5 days so she may end up cutting down as many people do returning from having a baby.

Alex Beresford is part of the national weather team, so it's not as though he doesn't have responsibilities to go back to, cos he does.

People on here seem to think they know it all. You don't. And I don't. I just think Alex should stay permanently at GMB and I think Laura would be better suited as a general weather presenter across ITV. People need to stop attacking other people on here and stop taking people's opinions literally and to heart

So, by not taking your opinion literally, I should deduce that you don't really think Alex should be on Good Morning Britain?

If you state something as fact, and it's not factual at all, then you should expect to be called out on it. Getting something factually wrong, is not the same as having an opinion. To say that you prefer Alex over Laura, is fine, that's an opinion, and it's not wrong or right. But claiming that it wouldn't be illegal to fire Laura and replace her with Alex, is not having an opinion, it is stating something as factual when its not. Whole different ball game.

Well, you are the one presuming Alex wants to take on the role fulltime. IIRC he was supposed to replace Lucy Verasamy on Daybreak but pulled out - perhaps its the same now.

I see Amy Welch of Granada was reporting this morning from Kent. Is she covering for somebody?

Think she is attached to GMB just now, they don't usually use regional reporters unless absolutely necessary.

Alex Beresford did a report on the Black Panther premier this morning. Possible he might end up moving into a more permanent role such as a reporter on the show when Laura returns.

If piers was to leave GMB who would replace him? Other than Kate and Sean
