If you replaced the clock with a correct time clock viewers would kick off with things such as:
"Are they stupid, they've just said it's 7 minutes past 7 when it says 8:07 on screen"

I like the bar above as it covers everything to help viewers to navigate back if they require, though just moving the +1 logo into a box covering the clock could be adequate.

Would it be possible to cover up the clock and ticker on ITV +1 with a static graphic saying something along the lines of 'You are watching ITV +1'?

I liked how Breakfast referred to the clip they showed just after 7am. I think they used the phrase "with an ITV journalist" or similar avoiding the words "Piers Morgan" and "Good Morning Britain". Presumably they were trying to discourage viewers from changing channel, despite the clip having all the GMB (exclusive) captions on it. I guess employing Piers Morgan has paid off for Good Morning Britain if they're able to get such exclusives.

"In an interview with ITV" was the phrase they used. The first mention was at 7.30 and played out an excerpt of the interview just ripped from ITV complete with GMB graphics and the clock at 6.04. They did promote the show on Sunday night however and gave a mention to Piers then.

Sorry to be picky but the first mention was definitely before 7.30am, though that was probably the first time it was featured in the news headlines. The first airing was between 7am & 7.30am whilst they were talking to someone (a reporter?) in Davos, and they showed the excerpt in the middle of that.

Very US style. GMB is becoming increasingly more like NBC Today. The weather presenter at the desk, US style themes and graphics

Yes, but I was just commenting on how GMB went from american to british style and then back to american style. The promo has nothing to do with it

Well, clearly you were citing the promo card as an example of how GMB is becoming more like NBC today.

I don't think GMB has particularly changed its style since launch anyway has it?

The US-influenced graphic probably has more to do with the fact that it's a US-style interview special with a US president.

While it's a good idea, I wonder if having that strap might be a little intrusive, perhaps simply covering the clock and having a bigger itv+1 logo in the corner would help.

It should be, the way ITV playout works. The regional streams (there's no opting remember) are just delayed versions of ITV, and adding captions to that should in theory be easier than doing it on the primary ITV output for that region.

It's just do they really need to make the effort, they could if they wanted to just generate a GMB style clock and overlay it between 6 and 9:25 or 8:30 with the live time, clocks are easier to generate than some long thing that covers the ticker.

There’s no opt outs on the regional streams? Does that include news at 6 and 10:30 or the subopts?

Yet NBC hasn’t touched the interview even though they’re “partners”. Nothing on Nightly News or Today this morning. I imagine it’s because they got their own interview with him through CNBC.

Today did actually show a short portion of the snippet released yesterday in the lead package.

I’m not sure it’d be that obtrusive - it’s only covering up graphics of the same size that are normally there anyway. Perhaps using the more neutral colours of the ticker instead of the brighter colours of the clock would come across as less obtrusive.

Having such a graphic I thought would remind people that what they’re watching is not live news and the time checks are incorrect.

I am wondering if the wording of such a graphic should be ‘live ITV’ instead of ‘regular ITV’ to make that point clearer.
